I tend to be at times overly cynical when it comes to Hollywood movies. My impression here is that it is just an attempt to make use of an established "brand", and bend it so that it fits the targeted demographic. Which sometimes can lead to something entertaining, or, more likely, something that's mostly annoying. :)
