At one point the comments were 50% Thanos remarks and 50% Game of Thrones comments.
Honestly, I doubt that the writer or director will have it made clear that the Eternals were blipped out by Thanos. It's the only viable excuse that could get MCU fans to accept these new "ultra powerful" people, but this is a fan-love project. The Eternals came out in 1976 and ran until 1978. Then they came back in Oct 1985 and lasted 11 months. They didn't return until 2006, when Neil Gaiman actually helped on. I get the feeling that the writer would rather break their own hand than write in a moment when the Eternals were not invulnerable.
