It's centered around Joe (Timothée Chalamet), an introverted rocket mechanic who lives a quiet life alone alongside Fran (Selena Gomez), a brilliant astro-botanist who is developing the world’s first-ever plant-fueled rocket. When Joe and Fran are brought together to prepare for the inaugural launch of this revolutionary rocket, there are immediate sparks, but neither is particularly adept at romance. Life becomes more complicated when three aliens - tiny, unruly and adorable - take refuge in Joe’s home. More voices will be provided by Rob Brydon, Jamie Demetriou, Diane Morgan, Allison Janney and Lamorne Morris.

Trailer for the latest movie directed by Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse, The Witch, Nosferatu), this time it's his take on the Wolfman myth. In medieval Britain, a mysterious creature stalks the foggy countryside, transforming local folklore into terrifying reality as villagers face an ancient supernatural threat. Cast members include Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe, Lily-Rose Depp, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, Ralph Ineson and Kate Dickie.
It was fun watching Dafoe and Pattinson go mad on the island as lighthouse keepers. But it's starting to get difficult to keep Eggers' other movies apart. They take themselves so seriously.

Comedic drama in which two aimless young women (Kristen Stewart, Alia Shawkat) who inadvertently gain telepathic abilities after ingesting an experimental drug, pitting them against dangerous rivals pursuing the same powerful substance. LaKeith Stanfield, Tony Hale and Cate Blanchett are also part of the cast, Seth Rogen and Kumail Nanjiani lend their voices to cats. Written and directed and by Stewart's spouse Dylan Meyer.
Probably funnier when you've inhaled something yourself.

Her quest collides with an American GI (Charles Melton) on a harrowing odyssey to rescue his daughter from hell. Kristine Froseth, Havana Rose Liu and Diego Calva are also part of the cast.
Many festival reviews had difficulties saying something positive about the film.

The ladies move to a modest cottage where the two older daughters vie for the attention of various suitors in search of true love. It's been four years since Peter Parker (Tom Holland) made the ultimate sacrifice to save the multiverse, and the world has forgotten who he is. Being New York's full time super-hero protector has Peter rubbing shoulders with Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) and battling Scorpion (Michael Mando), but with the arrival of a new threat, and Peter's powers evolving, things will never be the same again. Sadie Sink is a new addition to the cast. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Short Term 12, Just Mercy) takes over directing duties.

It follows the parallel lives of a New York author (Oscar Isaac) in the 21st century who embarks on a violent journey after he is recruited by a mafia don (John Malkovich) to steal Italian poet Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy written in the poet’s own hand, and Dante (also Oscar Isaac) in the 14th century seeking inspiration to write his most important work – each man unknowingly connected through time and their obsessive quest for love, beauty, and the divine. Gal Gadot, Gerard Butler, Louis Cancelmi, Sabrina Impacciatore, Franco Nero, Benjamin Clementine, Paolo Bonacelli, Martin Scorsese, Al Pacino and Jason Momoa are also part of the cast.
Premiered out-of-competition last year in Venice where a number of critics described it as overly ambitious but certainly also entertaining. After a brief theatrical release it will start streaming on Netflix June 24th.

It's the rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.

I have no doubt this will look impressive on a big movie screen. However, I hesitate to mention it, but I'm not (yet) convinced that Damon, Holland and Pattinson have the necessary gravity to sell an epic.
To shorten the wait until the release, I can recommend Ralph Fiennes' The Return that covers a small part of the story.

Virginia Woolf's Night & Day     HD1080p 25MB
Un-romantic comedic drama based on, you may have guessed it, a novel by Virginia Woolf. It's set in London 1910 and is about a passionate astronomer (Haley Bennett) who does everything she can to avoid romantic love and marriage. Her bold challenge to Edwardian patriarchy is set against the suffragette movement and advances in science and technology. Elyas M’Barek, Lily Allen, Jack Whitehall, Jennifer Saunders, Timothy Spall and Sally Phillips are also part of the cast.
The casting of Elyas M'Barek comes as a bit of a surprise.

They both feel a spark when they meet, but a series of missteps and side quests complicate their night, keeping them apart. Satire based on a French film in which the script is flipped when a ladies man (Sacha Baron Cohen) finds his life upended when he wakes up in a parallel world dominated by women. With the rules of engagement changed, he goes head-to-head with a fiery female colleague (Rosamund Pike). Charles Dance, Emily Mortimer, Richard E. Grant, Fiona Shaw, Weruche Opia and Kadiff Kirwan are also part of the cast. Directed by Thea Sharrock (Wicked Little Letters, Me Before You, The Beautiful Game).
Will probably turn out to be a lot more harmless than expected. But this looks pretty funny. Will start streaming on Netflix on May 22nd.

It's an action drama based on a book by Peter Heller, set in a world where survival is instinct, but humanity is a choice. It tells the story of Hig (Jacob Elordi), a young pilot who, together with a military survivalist (Josh Brolin), has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post-apocalyptic world until a mysterious radio transmission spurs him to venture into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exists. Margaret Qualley, Allison Janney, Guy Pearce and Benedict Wong are also part of the cast.

Psychological action adventure about a woman (Charlize Theron) who is testing her limits in the Australian wilderness when she is suddenly ensnared in a deadly game with a ruthless predator (Taron Egerton). Eric Bana is also part of the cast. Directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Contraband, Everest, 2 Guns).
I would assume that Egerton's character at the end will get his comeuppance, or maybe there will be an interesting story turn. But I find the set-up still rather off-putting. Will start streaming on Netflix April 24th.

Rosebush Pruning     HD1080p 26MB
Darkly comedic family drama set in an opulent villa beneath the Catalonian sun, where American siblings Jack, Ed, Anna and Robert (Jamie Bell, Callum Turner, Riley Keough, Lukas Gage) wallow in isolation and their inherited fortune, eschewing the demands of their blind father (Tracy Letts), and seeking love and validation through each other and their latest designer clothes. When Jack, the eldest brother and linchpin of this family, announces that he is moving in with his girlfriend Martha (Elle Fanning), blood ties are severed and Ed is forced to uncover the truth surrounding their mother’s death.
Looks very stylish, but recent festival reviews from Berlin are not really favourable. If you would prefer to watch a trailer version without German subtitles.

It follows Muad'dib, heir to unimaginable power, as he brings to fruition the ancient scheme to create a superbeing ruler among men, not in the heavens. Many of the previous cast members return, new additions are Robert Pattinson, Anya Taylor-Joy and Isaach De Bankolé.

Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice     HD1080p 27MB
Action-comedy about two gangsters (Vince Vaughn, James Marsden) and the woman (Eiza González) they love trying to survive the most dangerous night of their lives. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s one wild ingredient added to the mix: a time machine. Keith David and Stephen Root are also part of the cast.
Apparently quite violent. But reviews from the premiere last week at the SWSX festival are very favourable. Will start streaming on Hulu and Disney+ on March 27th.

Dark horror comedy in which Free Eden employee Apple (Lili Reinhart) secretly runs a witchy femme cult in the basement of the mall store after hours - with fellow fruits Cherry (Victoria Pedretti) and Fig (Alexandra Shipp). But when new hire Pumpkin (Lola Tung) challenges their performative sisterhood, the women are forced to face their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate.
Festival reviews are a bit mixed, all of them mention Mean Girls as a reference.

Trailer for fifth installment of the animated franchise. Become acquainted with the new character Lilypad, a high-tech frog-shaped smart tablet (Greta Lee) that makes Buzz (Tim Allen), Woody (Tom Hanks), Jessie (Joan Cusack), and the rest of the gang’s jobs exponentially harder when they have to go head-to-head with the all-new threat to playtime. Also new to the voice cast are Craig Robinson as Atlas, a cheerful talking GPS hippo toy and Conan O’Brien as the toilet training tech toy, Smarty Pants. I hesitate to mention it, but I don't think I've seen any of the previous films.

Austere drama filmed in black-and-white set in the early 17th century. Somewhere in Germany, a mysterious soldier (Sandra Hüller) arrives in an isolated Protestant village. Slight and modest by nature, his face disfigured by a scar, this stranger declares himself to be the heir of a long-abandoned farmstead and produces a document to support his claim to the suspicious villagers. With the passage of time, he overcomes their doubts and, proving himself to be a hard-working, God-fearing man, becomes a part of their community. However, his quest for acceptance is built on a bold-faced lie.
Another showcase for Hüller's talent. Movie currently takes part in the official competition at the Berlin Film Festival.

Just as wacky as the first trailer. Just imagine Sam Rockwell in top Sam Rockwell form. Or a Terry Gilliam movie.

Reminds me that I want to watch Robin and Marian.

The Testament of Ann Lee     HD720p 26MB
Biographical, historical musical drama about Ann Lee (Amanda Seyfried), founder of the devotional sect known as the Shakers. She was the irrepressible leader, who preached gender and social equality and was revered by her followers. The movie captures the ecstasy and agony of her quest to build a utopia, featuring more than a dozen traditional Shaker hymns reimagined as rapturous movements. Thomasin Mckenzie, Lewis Pullman, Tim Blake Nelson, Christopher Abbott and Stacy Martin are also part of the cast. Directed by Mona Fastvold (The World to Come) and written by Fastvold and her partner Brady Corbet, the couple responsible for The Brutalist.

Redband trailer for this violent, comedic action movie in which a woman (Zazie Beetz) takes a job as a housekeeper in a NYC high-rise, unaware of the building's history of disappearances. She soon realizes the community is shrouded in mystery, causing her to survive the night at the Virgil, a demonic cult’s mysterious and twisted death-trap of a lair, before becoming their next offering. Myha’La, Paterson Joseph, Tom Felton, Heather Graham and Patricia Arquette are also part of the cast.
Looks a bit exhausting.

A reimagining of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, set in the world of a British South Asian family in contemporary London. Hamlet (Riz Ahmed) returns to London for the funeral of his father, but he is shocked when his uncle, Claudius (Art Malik), announces that he’s marrying Hamlet’s just-widowed mother (Sheeba Chaddha). After seeing his father’s ghost, who says he was murdered by Claudius, Hamlet becomes consumed by rage and revenge. Joe Alwyn, Timothy Spall and Morfydd Clark are also part of the cast.
Festival reviews are a bit mixed. But it looks visually good, and Ahmed gives another memorable performance.
