Beau is Afraid HD720p 101MB
One of the most intriguing, surreal and night-marish trailers in recent memory. It's difficult to find a suitable movie description. IMDb has a summary that reads: A decades-spanning portrait of one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time. But it's impossible to see that description backed up by the trailer. It makes slightly more sense that it's an extension of a previous short by writer and director Ari Aster (Midsommar, Hereditary): A neurotic middle-aged man's trip (to visit his mother) is delayed indefinitely when his keys are mysteriously taken from his door. He is subsequently haunted by an increasingly sinister chain of upsetting events. No matter what, it looks to be quite the trip, have a look at the trailer yourself.
Also part of the cast are Amy Ryan, Nathan Lane, Parker Posey, Michael Gandolfini, Patti LuPone and Zoe Lister-Jones.
Linoleum HD720p 30MB
Comedic sci-fi drama about the host (Jim Gaffigan) of a failing children's science TV show called "Above & Beyond", who has always had aspirations of being an astronaut. After a mysterious space-race era satellite coincidentally falls from space and lands in his backyard, his midlife crisis manifests in a plan to rebuild the machine into his dream rocket. As his relationship with his wife (Rhea Seehorn) and daughter (Katelyn Nacon) start to strain, surreal events begin unfolding around him.
Looks touching and delightful, and was very well received at festivals.
Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret HD720p 87MB
Big-screen adaptation of Judy Blume's classic 1970 coming-of-age book. 11-year-old Margaret (Abby Ryder Fortson) is uprooted from her life in New York City for the suburbs of New Jersey, going through the messy and tumultuous throes of puberty with new friends in a new school. She relies on her mother, Barbara (Rachel McAdams), who is also struggling to adjust to life outside the big city, and her adoring grandmother, Sylvia (Kathy Bates), who isn’t happy they moved away and likes to remind them every chance she gets. Directed by Kelly Fremon Craig (The Edge of Seventeen).
I haven't read the book, and I'm clearly not the target audience, but this looks quite entertaining.
Marlowe HD1080p 28MB
Noir crime thriller set in late 1930’s Los Angeles, that centers around a street-wise, down on his luck detective; Philip Marlowe (Liam Neeson), who is hired to find the ex-lover of a glamorous heiress (Diane Kruger), daughter of a well-known movie star (Jessica Lange). The disappearance unearths a web of lies, and soon Marlowe is involved in a dangerous, deadly investigation where everyone involved has something to hide. Alan Cumming, Danny Huston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Colm Meaney are also part of the cast. Directed by Neil Jordan (Michael Collins, The Crying Game, The Good Thief).
Festival reviews confirm the impression from the trailer that this sadly seems mostly a bit of a missed opportunity.
Sharper HD720p 88MB
Neo-noir thriller with secrets and lies in which no one is who they seem, that's set amongst New York City's bedrooms, barrooms and boardrooms. Characters compete for riches and power in a high stakes game of ambition, greed, lust and jealousy that will keep audiences guessing until the final moment. Cast members include Julianne Moore, Sebastian Stan, Justice Smith, Briana Middleton and John Lithgow.
Sounds good on paper, but the trailer fails to grab me. After a brief theatrical run, will start streaming on Apple+ February 17th.
