Tense crime drama about Sandra (Sandra Hüller), a German writer who, for the past year, lived with her French husband Samuel, and their eleven-year-old son a secluded life in a remote town in the French Alps. When Samuel is found dead in the snow below their chalet, the police question whether he committed suicide or was killed. His death is treated as suspicious, presumed murder, and Sandra becomes the main suspect. Little by little the trial becomes not just an investigation of the circumstances of his death, but an unsettling psychological journey into the depths of Sandra and Samuel's conflicted relationship.
Director Justine Triet won the Golden Palm this year in Cannes for her film. Two much different trailer versions from the US and Australia to choose from.

Teaser for this biographical drama that was all over the news last week for all the wrong reasons. It follows the complex love story of Leonard Bernstein (Bradley Cooper) and Felicia Montealegre (Carey Mulligan); from the time they met in 1946 at a party, through two engagements, a 25-year marriage and three children. Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke and Sarah Silverman are also part of the cast. It's also co-written and directed by Cooper (A Star Is Born).
Besides the unnecessary prosthetics, it so far bugs me that it screams "I want to win awards!" very loudly. Will take part in the official competition in Venice. After a limited theatrical run, will start streaming on Netflix December 20th.

Colourful, energetic comedic drama about Iranian-American Leila who strives to find balance and embrace her opposing cultures, while boldly challenging the labels society is so quick to project upon her. When her family reunites in New York City for her father’s heart transplant, she navigates her relationships at arm’s length in an effort to keep her “real” life separate from her family life. However, when her secret is unceremoniously revealed, so are the distinct parallels between her life and that of her mother.
Was mostly well received at Sundance.

Wry, comedic drama shot in black and white, about beautiful and troubled 20-something Donya, an Afghan translator who used to work with the U.S. government, and has trouble sleeping. She lives by herself in Fremont, California, in a building with other Afghan immigrants and often dines alone at a local restaurant watching soap operas. Her routine changes when she’s promoted to writing the fortunes at her job at a fortune cookie factory in the city. As her fortunes are read by strangers throughout the Bay, her smoldering longing drives her to send a message out to the world, unsure where it will lead.
