I did not read the book. I found this fun and visually AWESOME. The actors AND characters are superb. This movie was fascinating, interesting, and full of potential. For about 45 minutes. It's 128 minutes long. It got trite fast. There's a huge plot point that is never explained but since it's brought up a few times, I'm sure the explanation is on the cutting room floor. My husband did read the book and said "They got the scenery right out of the book and lost the plot."
This should have been three 90 minute episodes. The pacing took a serious hit and the dialog suffered because of it.
