Satirical drama set in May of 2020 (the early stages of the Corona pandemic), a standoff between a small-town sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix) and mayor (Pedro Pascal) sparks a powder keg as neighbor is pitted against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico. Austin Butler and Emma Stone are also part of the cast. Written and directed by Ari Aster (Beau is Afraid, Midsommar, Hereditary).
Premiered last month in Cannes, where it received some mixed reviews. Cast is top-notch. But I don't find the trailer particularly compelling. But I feel obliged to point out that the movie brings together Ridley Scott's Gladiators.

It also stars Jeremy Strong as Springsteen’s long-time confidant and manager, Jon Landau; Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan; Stephen Graham and Gaby Hoffman as Springsteen’s parents, and also Odessa Young, Marc Maron and David Krumholtz. Directed by Scott Cooper (Black Mass, Out of the Furnace, Crazy Heart).

Also part of the cast are Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand and Danny Huston. Directed by Akiva Schaffer (The Watch, Hot Rod, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping)
I wonder how funny I would find the original when watching it again today.

When a downtrodden janitor (Peter Dinklage) is exposed to a catastrophic toxic accident, he’s transformed into a new kind of hero: The Toxic Avenger. Now, he must rise from outcast to savior, taking on ruthless corporate overlords and corrupt forces who threaten his son, his friends, and his community. In a world where greed runs rampant… justice is best served radioactive. Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Elijah Wood and Kevin Bacon area also part of the cast. Directed by Macon Blair (I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore).
While Dinklage voices both characters, the Avenger character under heavy make-up apparently gets played by Luisa Guerreiro. The movie was already being well received at genre festivals in 2023, it will now finally get a theatrical release in August.

An announcement trailer for the sequel. It's currently set to be in theatres in 2027, the year in which Mel Brooks will (hopefully) turn 101.
That fact alone would justify mentioning the film. But the teaser is actually quite funny.
