It follows the parallel lives of a New York author (Oscar Isaac) in the 21st century who embarks on a violent journey after he is recruited by a mafia don (John Malkovich) to steal Italian poet Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy written in the poet’s own hand, and Dante (also Oscar Isaac) in the 14th century seeking inspiration to write his most important work – each man unknowingly connected through time and their obsessive quest for love, beauty, and the divine. Gal Gadot, Gerard Butler, Louis Cancelmi, Sabrina Impacciatore, Franco Nero, Benjamin Clementine, Paolo Bonacelli, Martin Scorsese, Al Pacino and Jason Momoa are also part of the cast.
Premiered out-of-competition last year in Venice where a number of critics described it as overly ambitious but certainly also entertaining. After a brief theatrical release it will start streaming on Netflix June 24th.

Date: 4 Jun 2026 16:52 (UTC)I usually don't like epic adventures with somewhat wacky, lolsorandom premises (The End of Oak Street) but the JJ Abrams/David Robert Mitchell combo has my interest. Only watched the teaser.
