Parker     360p 13MB   720p 39MB
Crime thriller based on the novels by Donald E. Westlake about a professional thief (Jason Statham) who lives by a personal code of ethics: Don't steal from people who can't afford it and don't hurt people who don't deserve it. But on his latest heist, his crew (Michael Chiklis, Wendell Pierce, Clifton Collins Jr.) double crosses him, steals his stash, and leaves him for dead. Determined to make sure they regret it, he tracks them to Palm Beach, where the crew is planning their biggest heist ever. Donning the disguise of a rich Texan, he takes on an unlikely partner, a savvy insider (Jennifer Lopez), who's short on cash, but big on looks, smarts and ambition. Nick Nolte is also part of the cast. Directed by Taylor Hackford (Ray, Proof of Life, An Officer and a Gentleman).
It's a January release in the US. But it's at the very end of January. Almost February.

The Croods     HD480p 57MB   HD720p 97MB   HD1080p 169MB
First trailer for this animated, prehistoric comedy adventure from DreamWorks Animation that follows the world's first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Travelling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures - and their outlook is changed forever. Voices will be provided by Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman. Co-written and -directed by Chris Sanders (How to Train Your Dragon, Lilo & Stitch).
Some elements look very familiar.

The Guilt Trip     HD480p 52MB   HD720p 72MB
Comedy in which, in order to sell his latest invention, an inventor (Seth Rogen) is about to embark on the road trip of a lifetime. After deciding to start his adventure with a quick visit at mom's (Barbra Streisand), he is guilted into bringing her along for the ride. Across 3,000 miles of ever-changing landscape, he is constantly aggravated by her antics, but over time he comes to realize that their lives have more in common than he originally thought. Kathy Najimy, Colin Hanks, Adam Scott, Yvonne Strahovski and Danny Pudi are also part of the cast. Directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses, Step Up), written by Dan Fogelman (Crazy Stupid Love, Fred Claus, Bolt).
US release is set for Christmas Day, so despite some frank dialogue, it probably won't upset anyone.

Silver Linings Playbook     HD480p 27MB   HD720p 54MB
A second full trailer for this comedic drama, not much different from the first one, but confirming that I might indeed be able to deal with Bradley Cooper here. It's about a guy (Cooper) who has lost everything, his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with parents (Jacki Weaver, Robert De Niro) after spending eight months (other sources say four years) in a state institution on a plea bargain. He's determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. When he meets a mysterious girl (Jennifer Lawrence) with problems of her own, things get complicated. Directed by David O. Russell (The Fighter, Three Kings, I Heart Huckabees). Also part of the cast are Julia Stiles and Chris Tucker.

A Good Day to Die Hard     HD480p 13MB   HD720p 25MB   HD1080p 33MB
Short teaser for another instalment of a franchise that refuses to die. This time John McClane faces his greatest challenge ever, on an international stage, when his estranged son (Jai Courtney) is caught up in the daring prison escape of a rogue Russian leader, and father and son McClane must work together to keep each other alive and keep the world safe for ... democracy. Among the cast members (confirmed or rumoured) are Sebastian Koch, Cole Hauser, Megalyn Echikunwoke and Aksel Hennie. Directed by John Moore (Max Payne, Behind Enemy Lines, The Omen).

Broken City     HD480p 41MB   HD720p 98MB
Thriller that takes place in a broken city rife with injustice in which ex-cop (Mark Wahlberg) seeks redemption and revenge after being double-crossed and then framed by its most powerful figure, the mayor (Russell Crowe). His relentless pursuit of justice, matched only by his streetwise toughness, makes him an unstoppable force and the mayor's worst nightmare. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jeffrey Wright and Barry Pepper are also part of the cast. Directed by Allen Hughes (The Book of Eli, From Hell), apparently without his usual collaborator, twin brother Albert.
I fear they won't colour-correct Crowe's very distracting orange tan for the January US release.

Movie 43     HD720p 60MB
A redband trailer for this ensemble comedy consisting of intertwining different tales that definitely earned his colour. It is written by about a half a dozen writers and even more directors are involved, among them Steven Brill, Steve Carr, Griffin Dunne, Peter Farrelly, Bob Odenkirk and Brett Ratner. It's described as "jaw-dropping, uproarious, outrageous fun. Not for the weak-stomached, faint of heart, or easily offended". Which seems to be no exaggeration. Among the endless list of cast members are - are you ready? - Johnny Knoxville, Gerard Butler, Anna Faris, Seann William Scott, Hugh Jackman, Richard Gere, Uma Thurman, Halle Berry, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Kate Bosworth, Kate Winslet, Terrence Howard, Liev Schreiber, Elizabeth Banks, Justin Long, Kristen Bell, Patrick Warburton, Josh Duhamel, Jason Sudeikis, Chloë Grace Moretz, Stephen Merchant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jack McBrayer, Kieran Culkin and Chris Pratt.
Looks very crass, but with so many popular faces involved it's difficult to look away.

Stoker     HD720p 28 MB
International trailer version for Korean director Park Chan-wook's (Oldboy, Lady Vengeance, Thirst) first English language movie that's still creepy, but a different version of creepy, confirming that this will be a visual treat. After a young woman's (Mia Wasikowska) father (Dermot Mulroney) dies in an auto accident, her uncle (Matthew Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother (Nicole Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

Looper: As he did with Brothers Bloom, director Rian Johnson released a complete commentary track. You can download it at soundcloud.

Seven Psychopaths: Very funny, short promo for the upcoming crime comedy written and directed by Martin McDonagh (In Bruges): HD720p 10MB.

Skyfall: A one minute trailer that makes use of Adele's very Bond-ish song (listen to the whole song) for the movie: HD720p 18MB.

Last not least, the American Man's Scotch Pronunciation Guide with esteemed actor and proud Scot Brian Cox.

Hitchcock     HD480p 47MB   HD720p 86MB
Full trailer for this love story about one of the most influential filmmakers of the last century, Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins), and his wife and partner Alma Reville (Helen Mirren). The film takes place during the making of Hitchcock's seminal movie Psycho. Also part of the cast are Scarlett Johansson (as Janet Leigh), Danny Huston, Toni Collette, Jessica Biel (as Vera Miles), Michael Stuhlbarg and James D'Arcy. What I find interesting is that it's directed by Sacha Gervasi who so far only has made the entertaining documentary Anvil: The Story of Anvil.
What can I say, I love watching former Oscar winners duel, but it also has the scent of being your typical award bait movie.

The Thieves - Dodookdeul     HD480p 21MB   HD720p 41MB
Since Soderbergh won't be making any Ocean's movies anytime soon, this Korean production looks like a very good addition to the stylish caper movie genre and should help us bridge the gap. It's the score of their lives - if they can pull it off. Five thieves at the top of their game, and the crew is assembling for their biggest job yet. But this new score, it's hot. Maybe too hot. But who can resist the Tear of The Sun: a 318-carat diamond, worth 20 million dollars, and locked away in a casino. The vault is impenetrable, the location covered in cops, and everyone knows there's no honor among thieves. As they gear up and stroll into the casino with a plan, skills, and a whole lot of nerve, they quickly learn that avoiding the cops may not be their toughest problem. Among the better known cast members in the West are Yun-seok Kim, Gianna Jun, Simon Yam, Jung-Jae Lee and Dal-su Oh.
While I like Clooney, Pitt and Damon, I don't mind seeing a number of female thieves added to the crew instead.

Django Unchained     HD480p 45MB   HD720p 100MB
Full trailer for the latest movie written and directed by Quentin Tarantino (Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds) now with more Samuel L. Jackson (looking a bit more his age) and glimpses of Don Johnson and Jonah Hill. Set in the South two years before the Civil War, it is about Django (Jamie Foxx), a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with a German-born former dentist, now bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) who is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers. He acquires Django with a promise to free him if he helps to capture them. Despite being successful, the two men choose not to go their separate ways. They start to look for Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife Django lost to the slave trade long ago. Their search leads them to the proprietor (Leonardo DiCaprio) of an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed to battle each other for sport, where they arouse suspicion of the owner's trusted house slave (Jackson).

My Worst Nightmare - Mon pire cauchemar     HD530p 26MB    Online HD
Romantic comedy from France about an unlikely couple. Agathe (Isabelle Huppert) is an uptight, impatient art dealer who lives in an expensive Parisian apartment with her wealthy publisher husband (Andre Dussollier). Patrick (Benoît Poelvoorde) is a skirt-chasing, unemployed single father who lives in his van with his son. Their lives would never intersect except that their two sons are best of friends and her husband has hired Patrick to remodel their apartment. Hilarity ensues as this odd couple relationship turns into Agathe's worst nightmare. Directed by Anne Fontaine (Coco Before Chanel, Nathalie..., The Girl from Monaco).
Movie is a bit too long but it's very amusing to see Huppert in a lighter role. And I tend to find Poelvoorde very funny.

Barbara     US 31MB    UK 16MB    German 18MB
Intense drama set East Germany, 1980. Barbara (Nina Hoss) is a talented young doctor who has applied for an exit visa from the GDR and, as punishment, has been transferred from her prestigious post in Berlin to a small pediatric hospital in the country. Even though she is constantly aware of the very real shadowy presence of, and overwhelming numbers of, Stasi officers chronicling her every move, she arrives at her new post having already planned a series of dangerous assignations with her lover, with whom she plans to escape to the West. One of her potential enemies is a young doctor. Initially rejecting his overtures of friendship, she is perplexed by his talent, his determination, and his sincerity. Director Christian Petzold (Yella, Jerichow) won the Silver Bear this year in Berlin.
The movie is Germany's official entry for the next Foreign Language Oscar. Speaking of, the full list of entries from 71 countries has been released. You can choose between the US, the UK and the German trailer version.

Jack Reacher     HD480p 55MB   HD720p 79MB
Full trailer for this crime thriller, now with 100% more Werner Herzog. Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into a state of terror. But within hours the cops have it solved: a slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man says: You got the wrong guy. Then he says: Get Reacher for me. And sure enough, ex–military investigator Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) is coming. He knows this shooter, a trained military sniper who never should have missed a shot. Reacher is certain something is not right. Also part of the cast are Rosamund Pike, David Oyelowo, Richard Jenkins, Robert Duvall and Werner Herzog.
Last 30 seconds of the trailer are pretty neat.

Zero Dark Thirty     HD480p 40MB   HD720p 71MB
Full trailer for Kathryn Bigelow's (The Hurt Locker, Strange Days, Blue Steel) highly anticipated movie about the black ops mission to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, which culminated in *spoiler alert!* his death during a high-stakes raid on his compound in Pakistan. Cast members include Joel and Nash Edgerton, Jessica Chastain, Édgar Ramírez, Mark Strong, Kyle Chandler, Jennifer Ehle, Harold Perrineau and Mark Duplass.
I still don't doubt this will be a gripping thriller. But I also still would've preferred it if it were based on a fictional story.

Dragon - Wu Xia     HD480p 42MB   HD720p 102MB
US trailer for this martial arts detective story from China that took part in the official competition this year in Cannes. Set in 1917, a papermaker (Donnie Yen) lives a seemingly normal life with his wife (Wei Tang) and two sons. However, the arrival of a detective (Takeshi Kaneshiro) who investigates the death of two robbers soon threatens to tear them apart when things get revealed about the papermaker's past. Directed by Peter Chan (Warlords, Perhaps Love, Hongkong Love Affair).
I posted an international trailer last summer and I actually thought the movie came out in the US long ago. But it will have an on-demand and theatrical release starting in November. If the links don't hold, you can watch it online here.

Gangster Squad     HD480p 52MB   HD720p 127MB
Because it features a similar scene, the movie got delayed after the shooting at a movie theatre when The Dark Knight Rises came out. The fact that they moved it to mid-January indicates to me that other factors played a role too. Either way, they made a brand-new trailer that removed the scene in question. Crime drama set in Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and - if he has his way - every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It's enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders (Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen's world apart. There will also be Nick Nolte, Emma Stone, Robert Patrick, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi and Anthony Mackie. Interestingly, it's directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, 30 Minutes or Less).

Cloud Atlas: Six minute featurette about the making of the movie: HD480p 68MB   HD720p 135MB   HD1080p 181MB.

Prometheus: Since it's the most noteworthy thing about the movie, two long featurettes about the visual effects: VFX Breakdown 720p 50MB    Creating LV-223 720p 80MB.

Hitchcock: And a public service announcement by Sir Alfred Hitchcock: 720p 7MB   Online YouTube.

Iron Man 3     HD480p 43MB   HD720p 93MB   HD1080p 179MB
Highly dramatic first trailer for the third instalment of the franchise that pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau and Paul Bettany's voice will return. New to the cast are Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale and Ben Kingsley. Directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang).

Lay the Favorite     HD480p 32MB   HD720p 57MB
US trailer version that is, from what I've read, much funnier than the actual movie as a whole. But that shouldn't keep us from watching the trailer. It's a lightweight comedy that follows an unpredictable dreamer (Rebecca Hall) as she goes from in-home stripper in Tallahassee to gambler's assistant in Las Vegas, working for one of the most successful sports gamblers (Bruce Willis) in the business. She takes to the work like a natural, but makes the risky bet of falling for him, much to the chagrin of his retired showgirl wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones). That bet goes south, and a triangular war ensues. Joshua Jackson and Vince Vaughn are also part of the cast. Directed by Stephen Frears (The Grifters, High Fidelity, Tamara Drewe).

Pusher     HD480p 36MB   HD720p 65MB
UK remake of Nicolas Winding Refn's directing debut from 1996 that starred Kim Bodnia and Mads Mikkelsen. Refn has an executive producer credit so we can assume he has blessed the remake. It's a violent thriller about a London drug dealer (Richard Coyle) who grows increasingly desperate over the course of a week after a botched deal leaves him with a large debt to a ruthless drug lord. Also part of the cast are Agyness Denn, Bronson Webb and Zlatko Buric who reprises his role from the original.

Holy Motors     HD480p 37MB   HD720p 111MB
Much different US trailer for the latest challenging and surreal movie written and directed by Leos Carax (The Lovers on the Bridge, Pola X). Apparently inspired by the filmmaker's fascination with the after hours life of stretch limousines, the movie follows Monsieur Oscar (Daniel Lavant) who, over the course of a single day, takes on 10 other guises, ranging from a gangster and ageing millionaire to a troubled parent and anarchic tramp. Movie mostly focuses on Lavant but features guest appearances by Eva Mendes, Kylie Minogue and Michel Piccoli.
Movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival where the reactions ranged from outright rejection to praise as the most interesting and original movie of the festival. If the links don't hold, you can watch it online here.

A Royal Affair - En kongelig affære     HD480p 21MB   HD720p 42MB
Hi-def US trailer encode for this romantic costume drama from Denmark based on true events of the early 1770s. Centring on the intriguing love triangle between the ever more insane Christian VII (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard), the man of enlightenment and idealism Struensee (Mads Mikkelsen), and the young but strong queen Caroline Mathilda (Alicia Vikander). The drama is the gripping tale of brave idealists who risk everything in their pursuit of freedom for the people. Above all it is the story of a passionate and forbidden romance that changed an entire nation.
Movie won Silver Bears in Berlin this year for Best Actor (Følsgaard) and Best Script and is Denmark's entry for the Foreign Language Oscar.

Great Expectations     480p 22MB   720p 36MB
UK trailer for the latest adaptation of Charles Dickens' book, directed by Mike Newell (Love in the Time of Cholera, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Four Weddings and a Funeral). Young orphan Pip (Jeremy Irvine) is given a chance to rise from his humble beginnings thanks to a mysterious benefactor. Moving through London's class ridden world as a gentleman, he uses his new found position to pursue the beautiful Estella (Holliday Grainger); a spoilt heiress he's loved since childhood. Yet the shocking truth behind his great fortune will have devastating consequences for everything he holds dear. Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Flemyng, Robbie Coltrane, and Ewen Bremner.
Festival reviews mostly characterise it as faithful but also a bit boring.

Quartet     HD480p 23MB   HD720p 46MB
Comedic drama that marks the directing debut of by Dustin Hoffman. It tells the story of Reggie (Tom Courtenay), Wilf (Billy Connolly) and Cissy (Pauline Collins) who reside in Beecham House, a home for retired opera singers. Each year they stage a concert to celebrate Verdi's birthday, which also raises funds for the home. Reggie's ex-wife (Maggie Smith) arrives at the home and creates tension, playing the diva part but refusing to sing in the concert. Michael Gambon and Sheridan Smith round up the cast.

The Big Picture - L'Homme qui voulait vivre sa vie     480p 18MB   720p 30MB
For the friends of Patricia Highsmith's The Talented Mr. Ripley, a late, limited US release of this thriller drama about a handsome and successful thirty-something Parisian corporate lawyer (Romain Duris) with a beautiful wife, two children, and a glimmering future as a partner in the firm he co-owns with his mentor (Catherine Deneuve). But behind this deceptively perfect bourgeois façade lies a desire for creative fulfillment, a restless spirit who despises his conformist life and envies the freedom of his neighbour Greg, an uncompromising photojournalist. Greg's unexpected death throws his life into chaos, and he makes a startling decision. Embarking on a cross-continent odyssey of self-discovery and reinvention, he experiences what many have wondered at some point in life: is it possible to become someone else?
You can watch the slightly different hi-def US trailer version here.

Safe Haven     HD480p 43MB   HD720p 78MB
Romantic drama directed by Lasse Hallström (Dear John, Chocolat, The Shipping News) based on a Nicholas Sparks novel. I guess I could stop right there because you already know the rest. But here's the official summary: When a mysterious young woman (Julianne Hough) arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with a widowed store owner (Josh Duhamel) with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love. Cobie Smulders is also part of the cast.

A Good Day to Die Hard     HD480p 22MB   HD720p 69MB
A little longer than the previous teaser but still mainly consisting of things blowing up plus a few choice bits of dialogue.
