Phantom     HD480p 26MB   HD720p 61MB
Thriller about the captain of a Cold War Soviet missile submarine (Ed Harris) who has secretly been suffering from seizures that alter his perception of reality. Forced to leave his wife and daughter, he is rushed into a classified mission, where he is haunted by his past and challenged by a rogue KGB group (led by David Duchovny) bent on seizing control of the ship's nuclear missile. With the fate of humanity in his hands, Harris discovers he has been chosen for this mission in the belief he would fail. Screen Actors Guild winner William Fitchtner is also part of the cast.
What is surprising is that this seems to be a completely independent production without any studio involvement at all which I find unusual for a movie like that. Though I think we better not expect another One ping only. Also, a longer trailer version: 720p 21MB.

It's a Disaster     HD480p 25MB   HD720p 50MB
(Apocalyptic) indie comedy about four couples who meet for Sunday brunch who find themselves stranded in a house together as the world may be about to end. When Tracy (Julia Stiles) decides to introduce her new beau (David Cross) to her three friends and their significant others, her biggest fear is whether or not her friends will approve of her new relationship, little does she realize that's the least of her worries. Before long the couples find themselves in the midst of an apocalyptic disaster, catching them all off guard. One thing is clear, these four couples aren't going to let the potential end of the world get in the way of the relationship issues they all need to work out.
Could be okay.

Two movies, both having limited releases in the US starting this weekend, both starring, directed and at least co-written by Alex Karpovsky and somewhat similarly themed so that reviews recommend seeing it as a double-bill.
Red Flag     HD480p 33MB   HD720p 59MB
One is a light comedy about a newly-single indie filmmaker (Karpovsky) touring the South on a promotional jaunt for one of his films. With an old friend in tow, the pair travels from one half-empty theater to the next, pursued by an ardent groupie who drives them into an exceptionally uncomfortable love triangle.
Rubberneck     HD480p 18MB   HD720p 36MB
The other is a thriller drama about a research scientist (Karpovsky) who, months after a weekend fling, continues to lust after his beautiful coworker (Jamie Ray Newman), nurturing his fantasies with the occasional polite exchange at work. But once she starts dating another scientist at their lab, his infatuation quickly turns into obsession – and he finds himself unable to control his desires.

From Up on Poppy Hill - Kokuriko-zaka kara     HD480p 16MB   HD720p 109MB
US trailer for the dubbed version of the latest animated movie from Studio Ghibli. It tells the story of Umi and Shun, growing up in the years after the Second World War and during the economic recovery in Japan. In the lead up to the Tokyo Olympics 1964 signs of the old city are torn down while people glorify the modern and new. In this time of change and upheaval there's a dispute about the future of a venerable building from the Meiji Era. Many want rid of this old building but Umi and Shun both understand that it's full of history and memories and should be protected.
Directed by Goro Miyazaki, son of Hayao who also worked on the screenplay. You can find the previously posted trailers from the UK and France here.

Somebody Up There Likes Me     HD480p 33MB   HD720p 59MB
US trailer version for this indie comedy that's described as a deadpan fable about time sneaking up on and swerving right around us. It's about thirty-five years in the life of Max (Keith Poulson), his best friend Sal (Nick Offerman) and a woman they both adore, Lyla (Jess Weixler). The trio stumble through mandatory but seemingly unfulfilling entanglements, at weddings, funerals, hospitals, eateries, divorce courts and the tool shed. Also part of the cast are Kevin Corrigan and Megan Mullally.
