An intensely moving portrait of a relationship from beginning to end, propelled by a soundtrack of foot-stomping bluegrass.

It's about a singer-songwriter (Oscar Isaac) who navigates New York's folk music scene. It follows him a week in his life as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961. Guitar in tow, huddled against the unforgiving New York winter, he is struggling to make it as a musician against seemingly insurmountable obstacles—some of them of his own making. Also part of the cast are Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Justin Timberlake, F. Murray Abraham and Garrett Hedlund.
