Drama set in 1977, that tells the story of a twenty-seven-year-old Australian woman named Robyn Davidson (Mia Wasikowska) who set out from Alice Springs to walk across 2,700 kilometers of harsh desert to the Indian Ocean. Accompanied only by her dog and four camels, she yearned for a solitary journey of self-discovery. She spends two hardscrabble years in the Alice Springs area learning how to train and care for camels in order to prepare for her journey. Finally ready to embark with her animals, she realises she is woefully underfunded and, despite her desires for self-sufficiency, accepts a fee from National Geographic in exchange for a written piece. The magazine adds a condition: she must allow a photographer (Adam Driver) to photograph her at selected stops along the way. Directed by John Curran (The Painted Veil, Stone, We Don't Live Here Anymore).
Not an easy watch, but festival reviews positively mention Wasikowska's performance and the cinematography.

A redband trailer for the latest controversial movie written and directed by Lars von Trier (Melancholia, Dogville, Antichrist). It tells the wild and poetic story of a woman's erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg). On a cold winter's evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Stellan Skarsgård), finds her beaten up in an alleyway. He brings her home to his flat where he tends to her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multi faceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents. Also part of the cast are Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Udo Kier and Jean-Marc Barr.
Usually, I don't add something like a specific "not safe for work" disclaimer since "redband" should be warning enough about a trailer's content. But in this case an additional word of caution seems appropriate.

If for some reason you weren't yet intrigued by the first one, here's a second trailer for the latest movie written and directed by Spike Jonze (Where the Wild Things Are, Being John Malkovich, Adaptation.). It is a love story set in Los Angeles, slightly in the future. It follows Theodore Twombly, a complex, soulful man (Joaquin Phoenix) who makes his living writing touching, personal letters for other people. Heartbroken after the end of a long relationship, he becomes intrigued with a new, advanced operating system, which promises to be an intuitive entity in its own right, individual to each user. Upon initiating it, he is delighted to meet "Samantha," a bright, female voice (Scarlett Johansson), who is insightful, sensitive and surprisingly funny. As her needs and desires grow, in tandem with his own, their friendship deepens into an eventual love for each other. Also part of the cast are Amy Adams, Rooney Mara and Olivia Wilde.
