Everyone's Going to Die HD720p 21MB
Trailer from France for this low key, dark comedic drama about two melancholy drifters who meet by chance at a restaurant: Ray (Rob Knighton), a man with a criminal past and, unfortunately, a criminal present; Melanie (Nora Tschirner), a deep-thinking German girl stuck in an alien country with an unsympathetic boyfriend. Their relationship is funny, doomed, and romantic.
Looks very nice and I feel very attracted to the title. I really hope this will find distribution in more countries.
A Long Way Down HD1080p 45MB
UK trailer for the big-screen adaptation of the novel by Nick Hornby. New Year's Eve on the top of a London skyscraper. Martin (Pierce Brosnan) is literally on the edge. A once-beloved TV personality, he's now desperate to jump. But, guess what, he's not alone. Single mother Maureen (Toni Collette), sassy teen Jess (Imogen Poots) and musician turned pizza-delivery boy JJ (Aaron Paul) have all turned up on the same roof with the same plan. An awkward situation. Instead of jumping, these complete strangers make a pact to stay alive and stay together until Valentine's Day, at least. Rosamund Pike and Sam Neill are also part of the cast. Directed by Pascal Chaumeil (Heartbreaker).
The critic of "Women's Weekly" asserts "I laughed and cried in equal measure".
Joe HD720p 29MB
Trailer from France for this drama set in the dirty, unruly world of small-town Texas. It tells the story of a kind-hearted excon (Nicolas Cage), who oversees a group of Mississippi men who clear trees for a large lumber company. When Gary (Tye Sheridan), a determined fifteen-year-old, shows up looking for work, he is hesitant to turn him away. After taking him on as part of the crew, he soon becomes a father figure. But he's no simple Samaritan. Recently released from prison, and with his own history of erratic acts, he makes for an unpredictable protector. And yet the two see something in each other, some core of dignity that might survive their ragged lives. Directed by David Gordon Green (Your Highness, Prince Avalanche, George Washington).
Reviews indicate that this is Cage's best performance in years. Not only that, its apparently even good on an absolute basis. I will have forgotten most of what I saw by the time I will get a chance to see the film, but I have a feeling the trailer gives away far too much.
Maleficent HD720p 34MB
Another 90-second look at this Disney action adventure origin story/prequel/reboot fairytale. A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land's fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal - an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, she faces an epic battle with the invading king's successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora (Elle Fanning). Sharlto Copley, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, Lesley Manville and Peter Capaldi are also part of the cast.
Directorial debut of Robert Stromberg who so far was mainly involved in designing visual effects and was responsible for the production design of Alice in Wonderland and Oz the Great and Powerful, as you can easily see. There was also a different 90-second version that I can only offer in pretty bad technical quality: HD720p 16MB.
Tim's Vermeer HD480p 19MB HD720p 30MB
Documentary about inventor Tim Jenison who attempts to solve one of the greatest mysteries in all art: How did 17th century Dutch Master Johannes Vermeer ("Girl with a Pearl Earring") manage to paint so photo-realistically - 150 years before the invention of photography? The epic research project he embarks on to test his theory is as extraordinary as what he discovers. Spanning eight years, his adventure takes him to Delft, Holland, where Vermeer painted his masterpieces, on a pilgrimage to the North coast of Yorkshire to meet artist David Hockney, and even to Buckingham Palace to see a Vermeer masterpiece in the collection of the Queen.
Looks very fascinating. Now in limited release in the US and the UK.
