Unbroken HD720p 49MB
Full trailer for the second directorial effort of Angelina Jolie. It's an epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis "Louie" Zamperini (Jack O'Connell) who, along with two other crewmen (Domhnall Gleeson, Finn Wittrock), survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII - only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. The Coen Brothers are listed to have re-worked the screenplay. But since this looks about as far away from a Coen Brothers movie as you can imagine, the third writer credited, Richard LaGravenese, who was responsible for inspirational tearjerkers like P.S. I Love You and and Freedom Writers, seems to be the main influence.
About as inspirational and Oscar-baity as is gets.
Wild HD720p 75MB
Inspirational drama based on a true story. With the dissolution of her marriage and the death of her mother, Cheryl Strayed (Reese Witherspoon) has lost all hope. After years of reckless, destructive behavior, she makes a rash decision. With absolutely no experience, driven only by sheer determination, she hikes more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, alone. Directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (Dallas Buyers Club, The Young Victoria, C.R.A.Z.Y.), screenplay by Nick Hornby based on Strayed's own memoir.
Inspirational and Oscar-baity, see above.
Jimi: All is By My Side HD720p 35MB
Biopic about the early days of Jimi Hendrix. In 1966, James Hendrix (André Benjamin) - stage name Jimmy James - is still an unknown backup guitarist playing in New York's Cheetah club. Hip, stylish Linda Keith (Imogen Poots) happens to catch a set he's playing and is mesmerized by his talent. She also happens to be girlfriend to the Rolling Stones' Keith Richards. Listening to the strides being made by mid-sixties British musicians, Jimmy is convinced that London is the gateway to success in America. But once there, he finds himself caught between Linda's protective grasp and the charms of a new admirer, Kathy Etchingham (Hayley Atwell). Written and directed by John Ridley who recently won the Oscar for the adapted screenplay of 12 Years a Slave.
Production apparently had to deal with the fact that it wasn't allowed to use Hendrix's original music (because his estate wanted to have a say in the screenplay), and there has been some controversy regarding the accuracy of the portrayed violence. But Benjamin's performance is certainly uncanny.
Land Ho! HD720p 19MB
Charming, bittersweet comedy about a pair of 60-something ex-brothers-in-law who sets off on a road trip through Iceland, hoping to reclaim their youth. Their picturesque adventures, from trendy Reykjavík to the rugged outback, are a throwback to classic bawdy road comedies as well as a candid exploration of aging, loneliness, and friendship.
I wasn't at first entirely sold by the trailer, but reviews are pretty much entirely positive, so I'd like to give it a try. Now in limited release in the US. Also, an article about the movie.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 HD720p 13MB
A second promo for the next instalment of the Hunger Games franchise involving the address by President Snow (Donald Sutherland) of the people of Panem.
Guardians of the Galaxy HD720p 51MB
If you would like to see some more footage before the actual release, here's another trailer. There's also been news that most of the music that can be heard in the trailers will end up in the movie, and you can now pre-order Peter Quill's Awesome Mix Vol. 1 if you like.
