Ant-Man     HD720p 41MB   HD1080p 55MB
We have to thank Agent Carter for the first high-profile trailer release of the year in form of an early teaser for what is expected to be another summer blockbuster comic book adaptation from Marvel. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, the two must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. Also part of the cast are Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Jordi Mollà, Martin Donovan, Wood Harris, Hayley Atwell and John Slattery.
As it is well known, this was originally Edgar Wright's baby which he fed and nurtured for about a decade but then he suddenly left the production due to the always ominous "creative differences" last year. Since he tends to have a clear vision of what he wants to do and the Marvel-Disney complex on the other hand wants as much control as possible over its products it's easy to see how that can lead to "differences". It's now directed by Peyton Reed (Yes Man, The Break-Up, Bring It On) who, judging by his previous movies, seems a much more subservient studio choice. Screenplay credits now apparently go to Rudd and Adam McKay (The Other Guys, Anchorman, Step Brothers).

Good Kill     HD720p 27MB
UK trailer for this war drama about a fighter-pilot turned drone-pilot (Ethan Hawke), based in Las Vegas, fights the Taliban by remote control for twelve hours a day, then goes home to the suburbs and feuds with his wife (January Jones) and kids for the other twelve. But the pilot is starting to question the mission. Is he creating more terrorists than he's killing? Is he fighting a war without end? Bruce Greenwood, Jake Abel and Zoë Kravitz are also part of the cast. Movie re-unites Hawke with writer/director Andrew Niccol (Lord of War, Gattaca, In Time).
Looks like a very timely movie since the US seems to like killing people in foreign countries whenever it feels like it. Though it's probably only a matter of time until it will start doing so within its own borders.

Drone     HD720p 20MB
Coincidentally, there's also a probably even more interesting documentary from Norway about the same subject. It follows people on both sides of the drone technology. The unique access to drone victims in Waziristan is juxtaposed to drone pilots who struggle to come to terms with the new warfare. It covers diverse and integral ground from the recruitment of young pilots at gaming conventions and the re-definition of "going to war", to the moral stance of engineers behind the technology, the world leaders giving the secret "green light" to engage in the biggest targeted killing program in history, and the people willing to stand up against the violations of civil liberties and fight for transparency, accountability and justice.
Also, an article about the large discrepancy regarding the "effectiveness" of drone strikes between what US propaganda says and reality.

Veronika Decides to Die     HD720p 13MB
US trailer for this drama based on a book by Paulo Coelho. It tells the story of Veronika (Sarah Michelle Gellar), a woman in her mid twenties who appears to have everything: good looks, good job and a great life ahead of her. Yet she decides to end her own life. She is unsuccessful and awakens in a mental hospital where she learns that she has five days to live. In the hospital she meets people who are only 'insane' because they don't always follow society's rules. With little left to lose, Veronika embarks on a journey on which she frees herself to experience relationships and emotions and ultimately discovers what it means to live. David Thewlis, Erika Christensen, Melissa Leo and Jonathan Tucker are also part of the cast.
As many of you will certainly remember, I already posted a trailer for this movie six years ago. So I think it's fair to say that the US distributors didn't exactly rush the release. But besides this already remarkable delay the distributors also are trying to set a new benchmark for most misleading trailer since the use of sound here makes it look like as if this is a horror thriller. Which is really unfortunate since for all I know, despite the mentioned unfortunate circumstances, this isn't such a bad movie after all.

The Longest Ride     HD720p 33MB
Trailer for the latest product variation coming off the Nicholas Sparks assembly line. It centres on the star-crossed love affair between a former champion bull rider (Scott Eastwood) looking to make a comeback, and a college student (Britt Robertson) who is about to embark upon her dream job in New York City’s art world. As conflicting paths and ideals test their relationship, the two make an unexpected connection with Ira (Alan Alda), whose memories of his own decades-long romance with his beloved wife deeply inspire the young couple. Jack Huston, Oona Chaplin and Lolita Davidovich are also part of the cast. Directed by George Tillman Jr. (Faster, Notorious, Men of Honor).
The lead actors get increasingly no-name, so fingers crossed the Sparks factory will soon be decommissioned.
