Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice HD720p 43MB HD1080p 84MB
First teaser for the attempted merger of the Superman and a rebooted Batman franchise, directed by Zack Snyder (Man of Steel, 300, Sucker Punch), to be in theatres next March. It is said that the movie follows up on the events of Man of Steel. Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane reprise their roles. Newly cast are Ben Affleck as Batman, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa as Aquaman. If there's enough running time there might also be appearances by Holly Hunter, Scoot McNairy, and possibly Ezra Miller and Jena Malone.
Learning to Drive HD720p 26MB
Comedic drama about a mismatched pair who help each other overcome life's roadblocks. Wendy (Patricia Clarkson) is a fiery Manhattan author whose husband (Jake Weber) has just left her for a younger woman; Darwan (Ben Kingsley) is a soft-spoken taxi driver from India on the verge of an arranged marriage. As Wendy sets out to reclaim her independence, she runs into a barrier common to many lifelong New Yorkers: she's never learned to drive. When she hires Darwan to teach her, her unraveling life and his calm restraint seem like an awkward fit. But as he shows her how to take control of the wheel, and she coaches him on how to impress a woman, their unlikely friendship awakens them to the joy, humour, and love in starting life anew. Directed by Isabel Coixet (Elegy, The Secret Life of Words, My Life Without Me).
Looks very "feel-good". Which doesn't have to be bad thing.
Tale of Tales - Il racconto dei racconti HD720p 32MB
Trailer from France for a free interpretation of some of the tales collected in the 17th century by Italian Giambattista Basiley that provided the basis for many of the later fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm. It is a fantastic journey through the baroque era, narrating the stories of three different kingdoms and their respective sovereigns. From the bitter quest of a jealous Queen (Salma Hayek) who forfeits the life of her husband (John C. Reilly), to the two mysterious sisters yearning for youth in order to provoke the passion of a King (Vincent Cassel), to a King obsessed with a giant Flea (Toby Jones) leading to heartbreak for his young daughter, these stories weave the beautiful with the grotesque. Directed by Matteo Garrone (Gomorra, Reality).
Movie will take part in the official competition next month in Cannes. The full line-up has been released this week.
Dope HD720p 49MB
Comedic coming-of-age drama about Malcolm (Shameik Moore) who is a high school geek with a high-top fade, carefully navigating life in The Bottoms, one of the toughest neighborhoods in Inglewood, California. He and his fellow outcasts share a voracious appreciation for all things '90s hip-hop, opting to sport Cross-Colours and Z. Cavariccis at the risk of being clowned at school. He dreams of attending Harvard, but first he has to make it home every day. When a drug dealer takes a shine to Malcolm and invites him to his birthday party, his crew is swirled into a hilarious blender of offbeat characters and bad choices where redemption can only be found in Bitcoin. Among the better known cast members are Zoƫ Kravitz, Tony Revolori and Kimberly Elise.
Movie was very well received in Sundance, though I can't say I really feel it from the trailer. Also, an earlier, groovy teaser: HD720p 13MB.
Closer to the Moon HD720p 22MB
Comedic drama that tells the rather strange, but apparently true story of a group of high-ranking Jewish members (Vera Farmiga, Mark Strong, Christian McKay) of the Communist Party and former WWII resistance fighters, who, in 1959, staged what would be an impressive coup: they robbed Romania's National Bank, making it look like a film shoot. But that was only the beginning: once arrested and prosecuted, they were forced to reenact their parts in the heist for a propaganda movie.
Farmiga and Strong are always enjoyable, but I'm not sure if all the elements will come together here. Now in limited release in the US on various platform.
