Our Kind of Traitor HD720p 25MB
UK trailer for this thriller based on a novel by John le Carré. While on holiday in Marrakech, an ordinary English couple (Ewan McGregor, Naomie Harris) befriend a flamboyant and charismatic Russian (Stellan Skarsgård), who unbeknownst to them is a kingpin money launderer for the Russian mafia. When he asks for their help to deliver classified information to the British Secret Services, the two get caught in a dangerous world of international espionage and dirty politics. The couple is propelled on a perilous journey through Paris and Bern, a safe house in the French Alps, to the murky corners of the City of London and to an alliance with the British Government via a ruthless and determined MI6 agent (Damian Lewis). Jeremy Northam and Mark Gatiss are also part of the cast.
I'm always up for a John le Carré adaptation.
Miles Ahead HD720p 19MB
Trailer for this biopic about Miles Davis which marks the directorial debut of Don Cheadle. Holed up in his Manhattan apartment, wracked with pain from a variety of ailments and sweating for the next check from his record company, dodging sycophants and industry executives, Davis (Cheadle) is haunted by memories of old glories and humiliations and of his years with his great love (Emayatzy Corinealdi). A wily music reporter (Ewan McGregor) forces his way into Davis' house and, over the next couple of days, the two men unwittingly embark on a wild and sometimes harrowing adventure to recover a stolen tape of the musician's latest compositions.
Festival reviews indicate that the movie is a bit all over the place. The trailer leaves a similar impression.
Marguerite HD720p 31MB
UK trailer for this tragicomedy from France. Set in 1921, not far from Paris, a party is being held at Marguerite Dumont's (Catherine Frot) mansion. Nobody knows much about the mysterious Marguerite except that she is rich and that her whole life is devoted to her passion: music. As she takes centre stage, she sings enthusiastically but terribly out of tune. When a young, provocative journalist decides to write a rave article on her latest performance, Marguerite starts to believe even further in her talent. This gives her the courage she needs to follow her dream – to perform front of a crowd of complete strangers.
Inspired by American socialite Florence Foster Jenkins. Coincidentally, later in the year, Meryl Streep will portray Jenkins.
The Driftless Area HD720p 24MB
Trailer for this neo-noir, metaphysical romance centers on a budding love affair that causes a ripple effect in a quiet town. After his parents' death, an affable bartender (Anton Yelchin) returns to his childhood home where he falls for the enigmatic Stella (Zooey Deschanel), a stunning woman with an elusive past. He finds himself pulled into a cat-and-mouse game with an incompetent yet destructive criminal (John Hawkes). Braced with a duffel bag full of cash and unyielding optimism, an unveiling mystery sets him down a path that will determine all of their fates. Alia Shawkat, Aubrey Plaza, Ciarán Hinds and Frank Langella are also part of the cast.
I had to copy "neo-noir, metaphysical romance" from a festival summary because the movie is certainly hard to describe. Not sure if this combination will work. It won't have a theatrical release, so better not expect too much. But the cast should be a plus.
Me Before You HD720p 117MB
Romantic drama about a young woman (Emilia Clarke) who lives in the English countryside. With no clear direction in her life, the quirky and creative 26-year-old goes from one job to the next in order to help her tight-knit family make ends meet. Her normally cheery outlook is put to the test, however, when she faces her newest career challenge: a job as caregiver and companion to a wealthy young banker (Sam Claflin) who became wheelchair bound in an accident, and whose whole world changed dramatically in the blink of an eye. Janet McTeer, Charles Dance, Jenna Coleman, Matthew Lewis and Vanessa Kirby are also part of the cast.
Surprisingly, this isn't based on a Nicholas Sparks book.
