High Life HD720p 19MB
Trailer from France for this arthouse sci-fi movie. The destination is the black hole within closest reach of Earth. The spaceship’s crew is a collection of dangerous prisoners, last-chancers with nothing left to lose. At first Monte (Robert Pattinson) is the only crew member awake, rigorously tending to the ship to keep them all alive as they hurtle through space. But he's also caring for a baby daughter, born on board. This anomaly is only the first sign of the chaos to come. As Monte's self-discipline slips, the crew awakens and conflicts erupt. Juliette Binoche, André Benjamin, Mia Goth, Agata Buzek, Lars Eidinger and Claire Tran are also part of the cast. English language directing debut of Claire Denis (Nenette and Boni, White Material, 35 Shots of Rum).
Judging from festival reviews, the trailer only hints at how unusual/weird the actual movie is.
Bird Box HD1080p 43MB
Horror thriller in which, when a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, only one thing is certain: if you see it, you take your life. Facing the unknown, Malorie (Sandra Bullock) finds love, hope and a new beginning only for it to unravel. Now she must flee with her two children down a treacherous river to the one place left that may offer sanctuary. But to survive, they'll have to undertake the perilous two-day journey blindfolded. Trevante Rhodes, Sarah Paulson, John Malkovich, Lil Rel Howery, BD Wong, Rosa Salazar and Tom Hollander are also part of the cast.
Two noteworthy things. It's directed by Susanne Bier (After The Wedding, In a Better World, Love Is All You Need). And, besides a limited theatrical release, it will start streaming on Netflix December 21st.
Cold Pursuit HD720p 88MB
Action thriller about family man Nels Coxman (Liam Neeson) whose quiet life with his wife (Laura Dern) is upended following the mysterious death of their son. His search for justice turns into a vengeful hunt for Viking (Tom Bateman), a drug lord he believes is connected to the death. As one by one each of Viking’s associates “disappear,” Nels goes from upstanding citizen to ice-cold vigilante. Emmy Rossum and William Forsythe are also part of the cast.
Directed by Hans Petter Moland who also made the Scandinavian movie In Order of Disappearance this is a remake of, which starred Stellan Skarsgård. The original has the advantage that it is (probably) much funnier, and you don't get the feeling you are watching the 27th instalment of Taken because Skarsgård is a much more inspired casting choice.
Outlaw King HD1080p 26MB
Another trailer for this historical drama that tells the true story of Robert The Bruce who transformed from defeated nobleman, to reluctant King, to outlaw hero over the course of an extraordinary year. Forced into battle in order to save his family, his people and his country from the oppressive English occupation of medieval Scotland, Robert seizes the Scottish crown and rallies a ragtag group of men to face off against the wrath of the world's strongest army lead by the ferocious King Edward I (Stephen Dillane ) and his volatile son, the Prince of Wales (Billy Howle). Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Florence Pugh, Tony Curran are also part of the cast. Directed by David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water, Perfect Sense, Hallam Foe).
Mackenzie apparently cut 20 minutes from the movie after the first festival screenings. But he kept the most talked about ... part. Will still start streaming on Netflix November 9th.
Under the Wire HD1080p 45MB
Documentary about Marie Colvin that can be seen as a companion piece (or alternative) to the upcoming biopic A Private War starring Rosamund Pike. On 13th February 2012, two journalists entered war-ravaged Syria. One of them was celebrated Sunday Times war correspondent, Marie Colvin. The other was photographer, Paul Conroy. Their aim was to cover the plight of Syrian civilians trapped in Homs, a city under siege and relentless military attack from the Syrian army. Only one of them returned.

Date: 3 Nov 2018 08:50 (UTC)In Order of Disappearance definitely looks better than Cold Pursuit, but I'm happy they're at least trying to keep the dark humor. I'm dropping the former in my Amazon cart.
Outlaw King...eh. I don't watch Netflix movies for the most part, and this isn't really drawing me to it (I did watch To All the Boys I've Loved Before, though, so maybe that'll change).
Under the Wire: Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus. I don't know how A Private War is going to top the real thing.

Date: 4 Nov 2018 11:53 (UTC)In Order of Disappearance: Yeah since it is the same director it will probably not be totally different. I think after watching the two trailers when putting together the entry I noticed there were even very similar shots.
By now we have to go to Neflix to watch at least somewhat decent rom-coms. :)
Under the Wire: It will probably again drive home the point that war is hell.
