Mank     HD1080p 10MB
Short teaser for the latest movie directed by David Fincher (Se7en, Zodiac, Gone Girl), based on a script by his late father. It's a biographical drama in which 1930s Hollywood is reevaluated through the eyes of scathing social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz (Gary Oldman) as he races to finish the screenplay of Citizen Kane. Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Arliss Howard, Tom Pelphrey, Tuppence Middleton, Tom Burke and Charles Dance are also part of the cast.
Not really important, but IMDb just informed me that Fincher and Oldman were once married to a woman named Donya Fiorentino.
Will start streaming on Netflix December 4th.

Totally Under Control     HD720p 79MB
Documentary that takes an in-depth look at how the United States government handled the response to the COVID-19 outbreak during the early months of the pandemic. On January 20th, 2020 the US and South Korea both discovered their first cases of COVID-19. However, 9 months later, the novel Coronavirus has claimed the lives of over 200,000 Americans and caused staggering economic damage, while in South Korea, there were no significant lockdowns and, in an urbanized population of 51 million, only 344 lives have been lost. Where did we go wrong? As the presidential election nears, Americans are increasingly enraged by a lack of clear leadership, endemic political corruption and left to wonder how did the wealthiest and most powerful country in the world manage to fail so thoroughly in its response to a global pandemic? Directed by Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, Zero Days), Ophelia Harutyunyan and Suzanne Hillinger.
With the superspreader event taking place right now at the top of the current US regime to drive home the point, I'm not sure if watching a doc about this historic failure is really necessary. But seeing a more comprehensive summary can help put things into perspective. Will start streaming on Hulu October 20th.

Free Guy     HD720p 54MB
A second trailer for this postponed action comedy about a bank teller (Ryan Reynolds) who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, and who decides to become the hero of his own story ... one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way before it is too late. Jodie Comer, Taika Waititi, Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery and Utkarsh Ambudkar are also part of the cast. Directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum , Real Steel, Date Night).
Currently scheduled for a December release. Hahahaha.

Black Bear     HD1080p 25MB
Mind-bending psychological thriller drama with some comedic elements, in which at a remote lake house in the Adirondack Mountains, a couple entertains (Christopher Abbott, Sarah Gadon) an out-of-town guest (Aubrey Plaza) looking for inspiration in her filmmaking. The group quickly falls into a calculated game of desire, manipulation, and jealousy, unaware of how dangerously convoluted their lives will soon become in the filmmaker’s pursuit of a work of art, which blurs the boundaries between autobiography and invention.
Looks a bit complicated, apparently along the lines of a film within a film within a film. But it was very well received at festivals.

The Croods: A New Age     HD720p 139MB
Extended trailer for the animated sequel, as I type this aiming for a thanksgiving theatrical release in the US. The prehistoric family the Croods (Nicolas Cage, Catherine Keener, Emma Stone) are challenged by a rival family the Bettermans (Peter Dinklage, Leslie Mann, Kelly Marie Tran), who claim to be better and more evolved. Further voices will be provided by Ryan Reynolds, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman.
IMDb informs me that it "initially was cancelled per request of Universal Pictures in November 2016 based on its production problems, but was put back into production in September 2017."
