Great cast, promising director, but terrible movie subject.

Also part of the cast are Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens and Cuba Gooding, Jr. Once again directed by Robert Rodriguez (Planet Terror, Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn).

Family drama with thriller-like twists about a man (Ali Mosaffa) who, following a four year separation, returns to Paris from Tehran, upon his French wife's (Bérénice Bejo) request, in order to finalise their divorce procedure. During his brief stay, he discovers the conflicting nature of her relationship with her daughter Lucie. His efforts to improve this relationship soon unveil a secret from their past. Tahar Rahim plays her new boyfriend.
This is the new movie from Iranian director Asghar Farhadi who last year ago won the Oscar for his previous movie A Separation. Bejo won the Best Actress Award for her performance last week in Cannes where the movie was very well received.

Using her airline connections to "accidentally" meet up with eligible ex-boyfriends and scour for potential candidates (Derek Luke, Taye Diggs, Boris Kodjoe, Djimon Hounsou), she racks up more than 30,000 miles and countless comedic encounters, all the while searching for the perfect guy. Luckily, Tyler Perry doesn't seem to be involved at all.

Much to my regret all the many, many trailers so far mainly emphasised the giant robots and stuff but there wasn't a lot of indication that there would be anything else. But this featurette called "The Drift" at least leaves the door open that there might be a chance that there will be something else even though I won't get my hopes up too high. And another featurette about some of the sets that were built that reveals that director Guillermo del Toro is a bit of a sadist: Feat HD720p 82MB.
