Tasked with planning a culturally respectful funeral befitting the family matriarch, she must juggle the expectations of her loving yet demanding family while navigating the reappearance of her estranged father all while grappling with what to do with the bookstore.
Was very well received at festivals. Now in limited release in the US.

Date: 18 Jul 2022 15:46 (UTC)She Said - it looks totally worthy, about a really important case and cause. Which makes it all the more dissapointing that the trailer is just *dull*. I watched it a couple of times to try and understand why, and I think it's because nearly all of the delivery is completely flat. None of it sounds emotional apart from one English actress. Compare to the trailer for Spotlight, which is equally Oscar-bait: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwdCIpbTN5g - very similar setup, but it comes across as a far more interesting movie. Hopefully it's the fault of the trailer and the actual movie is good.
Spin Me Round - I can't tell where it's going at all, which is great!
Day Shift looks like an awful lot of fun. And reminds me that I need to see John Wick some time.
Queen of Glory looks exactly like the kind of film I'd see at the Edinburgh Film Festival sometimes. Well made intimate dramas about people finding their way in the world. I hope it finds its audience!

I'm current when it comes to John Wick movies. :) Though I don't think it's necessary to watch all of them. Or you can at least spread them out over a long period of time.
Queen of Glory: It seems to have the right mix of serious and some lighter moments that makes me enjoy watching social dramas.
