Polite Society     HD720p 93MB
Action comedy that follows martial artist-in-training Ria (Priya Kansara) who believes she must save her older sister Lena (Ritu Arya) from her impending marriage. After enlisting the help of her friends, she attempts to pull off the most ambitious of all wedding heists in the name of independence and sisterhood.
Looks like a lot of fun, and was very well received this week in Sundance.

Rye Lane     HD1080p 24MB
Comedic relationship drama in which Dom and Yas’ paths collide at the least opportune time: when Dom (David Jonsson) is ugly-crying in a toilet stall, steeling himself for an awkward meal with his ex, who cheated on him with his best friend. Nursing her own breakup wounds, freewheeling Yas (Vivian Oparah) decides to jump headfirst into the fray to lessen the sting as Dom’s date. The two connect over the course of an eventful day in South London - helping each other deal with their nightmare exes, and potentially restoring their faith in romance.
Was also very well received this week in Sundance. After a UK theatrical release in mid-March, will start streaming March 31st on Hulu in the US and in the rest of world on Disney+.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves     HD720p 99MB
Second trailer for this action adventure inspired by the role-playing game. A charming thief (Chris Pine) who also plays the lute and a band of unlikely adventurers (Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis) undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Regé-Jean Page and Hugh Grant are also part of the cast. Co-directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Game Night, Vacation) who were also involved in writing the screenplays for Spider-Man: Homecoming and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
Just as funny as the first trailer. If you've already reached the conclusion that you'll probably enjoy this film then I suggest not watching the new trailer since it just reveals more quips and funny situations.

Somebody I Used to Know     HD720p 26MB
Comedic relationship drama in which Workaholic TV producer Ally (Alison Brie) faces a major professional setback which sends her running to the comforts of her hometown. She spends a whirlwind evening reminiscing with her first love Sean (Jay Ellis) and starts to question everything about the person she's become. Things only get more confusing when she discovers Sean is getting married to Cassidy (Kiersey Clemons) whose confidence and creative convictions remind Ally of who she used to be. Danny Pudi and Haley Joel Osment are also part of the cast. Directed by Brie's husband Dave Franco, the two also wrote the script.
Will start streaming on Amazon February 10th.

Aftersun     HD720p 68MB
Oscar nominations were announced yesterday. I posted trailers for most of the movies in recent months. One that slipped through the cracks due to its hard to grasp story is Aftersun. The movie landed on many year-end recommended lists of the top film critics. And now Paul Mescal received a Best Actor nomination. So I wanted to belatedly link to the trailer.
Melancholy coming-of-age movie set at a fading vacation resort, in which 11-year-old Sophie treasures rare time together with her loving and idealistic father, Calum (Paul Mescal). As a world of adolescence creeps into view, beyond her eye Calum struggles under the weight of life outside of fatherhood. Twenty years later, Sophie's tender recollections of their last holiday become a powerful and heartrending portrait of their relationship.

Rye Lane looks enchanting. Reminds me of a bunch of movies where "cute woman distracts man from depression and reminds him to live life to the full" - except that it's about both of them rather than just him.

Dungeons & Dragons looks like an awful lot of fun.

I spent most of the trailer for Somebody I Used To Know wanting to yell at the main characters. But there are a lot of people out there who haven't learned that a man who cheats on his fiance to be with you isn't a good person to date, and hopefully this movie will be a useful lesson for them.

Aftersun looks...well, I'm not sure. Well made, maybe? But I'm not left feeling sure that it has much of a plot. Which might be fine, if instead it has characters who draw you in. I got the feeling I'd want to yell at the dad a lot though. But that may just be me and my weird obsession with dadding :-)

I don't think I would watch _Somebody That I Used To Know_ if I were strapped into a _Clockwork Orange_ style torture chair with my eyelids propped open.

_Polite Society_ looks like a delight though.

Polite Society looks great

I hope it's the movie that helps ease the US audience into the idea of seeing more Indian martial arts movies in the future.
It looks great - I watched it 3 times.
Ritu Arya was wonderful in Umbrella Academy.
