The Marvels HD720p 76MB
First trailer for the sequel, to be in theatres in November. Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see her shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe. Samuel L. Jackson and Zawe Ashton are also part of the cast. Directed by Nia DaCosta (Little Woods, Candyman).
At least in this first trailer, the emphasis is on comedic elements. Imdb informs me that this will be the thirty-third film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny HD720p 85MB
Second trailer for the fifth installment that sees the return of a digitally enhanced Harrison Ford as the legendary hero archaeologist. There's not yet an official plot summary, but Ford will probably do a lot of Indiana Jones-ey stuff. Also part the cast is Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Indiana's goddaughter, as well as Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook and Mads Mikkelsen. Directed by James Mangold (Logan, Walk the Line, Ford v Ferrari).
Daliland HD720p 74MB
Biopic that focuses on the later years of the strange and fascinating marriage between Salvador Dalí (Ben Kingsley) and his wife, Gala (Barbara Sukowa), as their seemingly unshakable bond begins to stress and fracture. Set in New York and Spain in 1974, the film is told through the eyes of James (Christopher Briney), a young assistant keen to make his name in the art world, who helps the eccentric and mercurial Dalí prepare for a big gallery show. The more he sees, however, the more he comes to understand his employers’ grotesque codependency - and how many of their associates are committing petty acts of fraud. Rupert Graves, Suki Waterhouse, Andreja Pejic and Ezra Miller are also part of the cast. Directed by Mary Harron (American Psycho, The Notorious Bettie Page, I Shot Andy Warhol).
Festival reviews are a bit mixed.
Blue Beetle HD720p 115MB
Another origin story for a DC Comics superhero. Recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when he unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle. George Lopez, Susan Sarandon, Belissa Escobedo and Harvey Guillen are also part of the cast.
The attempt to establish a Latino superhero is laudable. But I can't say I'm in need of a further expansion of the DC Comic universe.
Lola HD1080p 32MB
Low budget, alternative timeline sci-fi movie set in England, 1941, sisters Thomasina and Martha have created a machine that can intercept broadcasts from the future. This delightful apparatus allows them to explore their inner punk a generation before the movement comes into existence. But with World War II escalating, the sisters decide to use the machine as a weapon of intelligence, with world-altering consequences.
Looks certainly interesting and festival reviews are mostly favourable.
