12 Years a Slave     HD480p 20MB   HD720p 87MB
Historical drama based on a true story set in the pre-Civil War United States. Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed by Michael Fassbender) as well as unexpected kindnesses, he struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, his chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) forever alters his life. Also part of the cast are Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, Paul Giamatti, Alfre Woodard, Quvenzhané Wallis and Sarah Paulson. Directed by Steve McQueen (Shame, Hunger).
We'll certainly hear more about this one during awards season.

Touchy Feely     HD480p 15MB   HD720p 27MB
Drama with comedic elements about a family whose delicate psychic balance suddenly unravels. Abby (Rosemarie DeWitt), is a sought after massage therapist and a free spirit, while her brother Paul (Josh Pais) thrives on routine and convention, running a flagging dental practice and co-dependently enlisting the assistance of his emotionally stunted daughter (Ellen Page). Suddenly, transformation touches everyone. Abby develops an uncontrollable aversion to bodily contact, which not only makes her occupation impossible but severely hinders the passionate love life between her and her boyfriend (Scoot McNairy). Allison Janney and Ron Livingston round up the cast. Written and directed by Lynn Shelton (Your Sister's Sister, Humpday).
Movie was still well-received in Sundance but not as well as Shelton's previous movie.

Computer Chess     HD720p 14MB
Very unique looking sort-of mockumentary set over the course of a weekend tournament for chess software programmers thirty-some years ago. It transports viewers to a nostalgic moment when the contest between technology and the human spirit seemed a little more up for grabs. We get to know the eccentric geniuses possessed with the vision to teach a metal box to defeat man, literally, at his own game, laying the groundwork for artificial intelligence as we know it and will come to know it in the future. Written and directed by the "Godfather of Mumblecore" Andrew Bujalski.
Looks fascinating and makes one feel a bit nostalgic. Also, an article about the movie.

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom     HD720p 14MB
Short teaser from the UK for this biographical movie based on South African President Nelson Mandela's autobiography of the same name. It chronicles Mandela's (Idris Elba) early life, coming of age, education and 27 years in prison before becoming President and working to rebuild the country's once segregated society. Naomie Harris plays his wife Winnie. Directed by Justin Chadwick (The Other Boleyn Girl, The First Grader).

The Deep - Djúpið     HD480p 22MB   HD720p 36MB
UK trailer for this drama from Island based on a true story. On a cold night in March 1984, a few miles off the south coast of Iceland, a fishing boat sank with all its men. One of the crew miraculously managed to survive. After five hours in the ocean, the exhausted man washed ashore, only to find himself on a deadly, uninhabited lava field. The tale of an ordinary man whose will to live made him both an inexplicable scientific phenomenon and a reluctant national hero. Directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Contraband, Jar City, 2 Guns).
Movie was Island's submission for this year's Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.
