Megalopolis     HD720p 21MB
First short trailer for the latest, and maybe last movie written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather trilogy, Apocalypse Now, One from the Heart). It's described as being a Roman Epic fable set in an imagined Modern America. The City of New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catilina (Adam Driver), a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito), who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero (Nathalie Emmanuel), the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves. Also part of the cast are Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Schwartzman and Dustin Hoffman.
Coppola financed the movie with his own money. An industry screening last month to find a Hollywood distributor did not go well. A report about chaos on the set surfaced earlier this week. Last night it premiered during the official competition in Cannes to mixed reviews. It certainly sounds and looks ambitious.

Firebrand     HD720p 31MB
Historical drama set in blood-soaked Tudor England, where twice married, accomplished, and educated Katherine Parr (Alicia Vikander), reluctantly agrees to become the sixth wife of the tyrannical King Henry VIII (Jude Law). Her consent to marry him carries great personal risk, given that her predecessors are either vanquished, beheaded, or dead. When Henry appoints her as Regent, the nation’s ruler during his absence when he departs to fight overseas, he lays a dangerous path for her. Henry’s courtiers, suspecting she’s sympathetic to radical Protestant beliefs that have taken root in the kingdom and are a threat to their power, scheme against her and cast doubts upon her fidelity to the increasingly ailing and paranoid King. Erin Doherty, Eddie Marsan, Sam Riley and Simon Russell Beale are also part of the cast.

Thelma     HD720p 25MB
Comedic (action) drama about Thelma Post (June Squibb), a feisty 93-year-old grandmother who gets conned by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson (Fred Hechinger) and sets out on a treacherous quest across Los Angeles, accompanied by an aging friend (Richard Roundtree) and his motorized scooter, to reclaim what was taken from her. Parker Posey, Clark Gregg and Malcolm McDowell are also part of the cast.
Festival reviews agree that it's about time Squibb got a leading role.

A Quiet Place: Day One     HD720p 32MB
Trailer for this apocalyptic horror film that's some sort of spin-off/prequel. Official "summary" only says: Experience the day the world went quiet. Cast members include Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn and Alex Wolff. Djimon Hounsou will return from the second movie. Directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig).

Wicked     HD720p 51MB
Extended trailer for the first part of the two-part movie adaptation of the Broadway musical, to be in theatres in November. It tells the story of the witches of Oz. Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), a young woman, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin, who has yet to discover her true power, and Glinda (Ariana Grande), a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition, who has yet to discover her true heart. The two meet as students at Shiz University in the fantastical Land of Oz and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum), their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths. Michelle Yeoh and Jonathan Bailey are also part of the cast. Directed by Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights, Now You See Me 2).

Megalopolis sounds like it could be a big shiny plane crash.

Firebrand at least has a cast I'm mostly fond of

I would rather chew my finger off than watch "A Quiet Place Part 1" -- the flashback we get in the original movie is Quite Enough Thank You. (I didn't even make it through the movie)
