The Order     HD720p 30MB
Crime thriller based on real events set in the year 1983. A series of bank robberies and car heists plague the Pacific Northwest. Believing these crimes to be connected to a white supremacist organization, FBI Agent Husk (Jude Law) undertakes an investigation with the aid of an eager young small-town deputy (Tye Sheridan). Their search leads them to Robert Jay Mathews (Nicholas Hoult), a charismatic cult leader recruiting a small army to raise funds for an armed revolution. Jurnee Smollett and Marc Maron are also part of the cast. Directed by Justin Kurzel (True History of the Kelly Gang, Macbeth, Snowtown).
Things have changed. These days a very like-minded person has a 50% chance to again become US president next January.

A Complete Unknown     HD1080p 50MB
Biographical drama of the life of Nobel Prize winner Bob Dylan. Set in the influential New York music scene of the early '60s, it follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician Dylan's (Cate Blanchett Timothee Chalamet) meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts - his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation - culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965. Edward Norton (as Pete Seeger), Elle Fanning (as a character based on Dylan's girlfriend artist Suze Rotolo, Monica Barbaro (as Joan Baez), Boyd Holbrook (as Johnny Cash) and Scoot McNairy (as Woody Guthrie) are also part of the cast. Directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line, Logan, Ford v Ferrari).
A bit surprisingly, wasn't shown at any of the fall festivals.

Christmas Eve in Miller's Point     HD720p 35MB
Deliberately retro trailer for this comedic drama set on Christmas Eve, where a family gathers for what could be the last holiday in their ancestral home. As the night wears on and generational tensions arise, one of the teenagers sneaks out with her friends to claim the wintry suburb for her own. There are appearances by Gregg Turkington and Michael Cera, but it has a large ensemble cast of mostly lesser known actors.
Festival reviews describe it as actually being wholehearted and sincere.

The Seed of the Sacred Fig - Danaye anjir-e moabad     HD1080p 18MB
Social drama in the form of a tense thriller from Iran. It centers on a family thrust into the public eye when Iman is appointed as an investigating judge in Tehran. As political unrest erupts in the streets, he realizes that his job is even more dangerous than expected, making him increasingly paranoid and distrustful, even of his own wife Najmeh and daughters Sana and Rezvan. Written and directed by Mohammad Rasoulof (There Is No Evil ). He has numerously been arrested and sentenced in Iran and now has fled the country. You can say he knows the local justice system well.
It's close to three hours long. But judging by festival reviews, that's not a problem.

Blitz     HD1080p 18MB
Drama that follows the journey of George, a 9-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) sends him to safety in the English countryside. George, defiant and determined to return home to his mom and his grandfather Gerald (Paul Weller) in East London, embarks on an adventure, only to find himself in immense peril, while a distraught Rita searches for her missing son. Harris Dickinson, Kathy Burke and Stephen Graham are also part of the cast. Written and directed by Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave, Widows, Hunger).
The drum score in the second half of the trailer is a bit much. After a brief theatrical run, will start streaming on AppleTV+ November 22nd.

I see we've arrived at the time of the year when we get the good films.

(Except for Christmas Eve in Miller's Point. That one completely failed to make an impression on me.)
