It's a triptych with all three stories about the relationships between adult children, their somewhat distant parent (or parents) and each other. Each of the three chapters takes place in the present, and each in a different country. Cast members include Tom Waits, Adam Driver, Mayim Bialik, Charlotte Rampling, Cate Blanchett, Vicky Krieps, Sarah Greene, Indya Moore and Luka Sabbat.
Won the Golden Lion for Best Film last month in Venice.

It's a neon-lit thriller drama about Lord Doyle (Colin Farrell) an obsessive gambler who is laying low in Macau – spending his days and nights on the casino floors, drinking heavily and gambling what little money he has left. Struggling to keep up with his fast-rising debts, he is offered a lifeline by a mysterious casino employee (Fala Chen) with secrets of her own. However, in hot pursuit is a private investigator (Tilda Swinton) – ready to confront him with what he is running from.

It's the moving portrait of Robert Grainier (Joel Edgerton), a logger and railroad worker who leads a life of unexpected depth and beauty in the rapidly-changing America of the early 20th Century. Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon, William H. Macy, Paul Schneider and Clifton Collins Jr. are also part of the cast, Will Patton narrates.
Probably not my kind of film, but it looks quite epic and it received highly favourable reviews. After a brief theatrical run, will start streaming on Netflix November 21st.

Animated film adaptation based on a children's book by Roald Dahl. Two orphans join forces with a family of magical animals to save their city from the powerful Mr. and Mrs. Twit (Johnny Vegas, Margo Martindale), the meanest, smelliest, nastiest people in the world. Emilia Clarke, Natalie Portman, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Ryan Lopez, Timothy Simons, Nicole Byer, Jason Mantzoukas and Alan Tudyk also lend their voices.

Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer and Charles Dance are also part of the cast.

Date: 14 Oct 2025 08:50 (UTC)Your previous comment about Wicked already reminded me of it, and now I again wonder what a challenge it sometimes must be to decide what books to read, or what movies to watch with your kids, depending on their (fast-changing) age. But you probably have a lot of experience by now. And maybe it's best not to think too much about it beforehand.
