First short trailer for Alfonso Cuarón's (Children of Men, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Y tu mamá también) first movie in seven years. It's a sci-fi thriller about a brilliant medical engineer (Sandra Bullock) on her first shuttle mission together with a veteran astronaut (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving the two completely alone - tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left.

In a strange coincidence, after posting the trailer for a Danish movie in the previous entry, now we get the Hollywood version about pirates hijacking a ship. Here it's based on the true story of Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years. Directed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Ultimatum, Green Zone, Bloody Sunday).
This makes for an interesting comparison.
