Not sure if the official summary makes any sense but it looks like a lot of fun. Nominations for best hair-dos, costumes and Robert de Niro impression should be a shoo-in. I wonder how it was like on the set with De Niro present (assuming he's really in it as imdb says).

Existential drama about an unnamed man (Robert Redford), who, deep into a solo voyage in the Indian Ocean, wakes to find his 39-foot yacht taking on water after a collision with a shipping container left floating on the high seas. Despite his success in patching the breached hull, his mariner's intuition and a strength that belies his age, the man barely survives the tempest. Using only a sextant and nautical maps to chart his progress, he is forced to rely on ocean currents to carry him into a shipping lane in hopes of hailing a passing vessel. But with the sun unrelenting, sharks circling and his meager supplies dwindling, the ever-resourceful sailor soon finds himself staring his mortality in the face. Written and directed by J.C. Chandor (Margin Call).
Probably not an easy watch, but it got very good reviews in Cannes.

Brought together by the death of a woman (Tippi Hedren) who was married, first to the Southern American Jim Caldwell (Robert Duvall) and then to the British Kingsley Bedford (John Hurt), her families meet for the first time at the Caldwells' Alabama home with uneasy curiosity. The culture clash of the Nineteen Sixties, and of the Old World versus the Old South, become a backdrop for their heartfelt and sometimes hilarious struggles with long-held resentments, family rivalries and secrets. Also part of the cast are Kevin Bacon, Billy Bob Thornton, Shawnee Smith, Ray Stevenson, Robert Patrick and Frances O'Connor. Thornton also co-wrote and directed (Sling Blade, All the Pretty Horses).
Looks nice, but I suspect the trailer makes the movie look a lot funnier than it actually is. An earlier promo trailer: 480p 13MB.

Also part of the cast are Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens and Cuba Gooding, Jr. Once again directed by Robert Rodriguez (Planet Terror, Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn).
Looks as silly as you would expect.

It tells the story of four Navy SEALs (Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Ben Foster, Emile Hirsch) on an ill-fated covert mission to neutralise a high-level Taliban operative who are ambushed by enemy forces in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. Eric Bana is also part of the cast.
Better watch the Oscar nominated documentary The Invisible War instead.
