Weird: The Al Yankovic Story     HD720p 41MB
Biographical, comedic drama that tells the unexaggerated true story about the greatest musician of our time. From a conventional upbringing where playing the accordion was a sin, Al (Daniel Radcliffe) rebelled and made his dream of changing the words to world-renowned songs come true. An instant success and sex symbol, Al lives an excessive lifestyle and pursues an infamous romance that nearly destroys him. Evan Rachel Wood, Rainn Wilson, Will Forte and Julianne Nicholson are also part of the cast.
The trailer is not as funny as the summary. But hopefully, the movie will still be funny enough. Yankovic co-wrote the script, so the story obviously has to be true. Will start streaming on the ... Roku Channel starting November 4th. An extensive, worthwhile article about Yankovic from a few years ago.

Argentina, 1985     HD1080p 40MB
Tense political thriller drama inspired by the true story of public prosecutors Julio Strassera (Ricardo Darín) and Luis Moreno Ocampo (Peter Lanzani), who dared to investigate and prosecute Argentina’s bloodiest military dictatorship in 1985. Undeterred by the military’s still considerable influence within their fragile new democracy, the two assembled a young legal team of unlikely heroes for their David-vs-Goliath battle. Under constant threat to themselves and their families, they raced against time to bring justice to the victims of the military junta.
Was very well received this week in Venice where the movie takes part in the official competition. Will start streaming on amazon starting October 21st. Can't say if that will be globally or only in LatAm.

Living     HD1080p 39MB
Based on a movie by Akira Kurosawa, the screenplay adaptation written by Nobel Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro, an existential drama that tells the story of an ordinary man (Bill Nighy), reduced by years of oppressive office routine to a shadow existence, who at the eleventh hour makes a supreme effort to turn his dull life into something wonderful – into one he can say has been lived to the full. Aimee Lou Wood, Alex Sharp and Tom Burke are also part of the cast.
Was very well received at festivals, and looks to be well suited for the holiday and awards season. But I'd say it tries too heavily to stir emotions for my personal taste.

Dead for A Dollar     HD720p 31MB
Western in which veteran bounty hunter Max Borlund (Christoph Waltz) is deep into Mexico where he encounters professional gambler and outlaw Joe Cribbens (Willem Dafoe) – a sworn enemy he sent to prison years before. Max is on a mission to find and return Rachel Kidd (Rachel Brosnahan), the wife of a wealthy businessman, who as the story is told to Max, has been abducted by Buffalo Soldier Elijah Jones (Brandon Scott). Benjamin Bratt and Hamish Linklater are also part of the cast. Directed by Walter Hill (Last Man Standing, 48 Hrs., The Warriors).
Premiered out of competition last night in Venice. Reviews I've seen are not as bad as I feared. But it probably helps if you enjoy Westerns and like the lead actors.

Armageddon Time     HD720p 98MB
Biographical coming-of-age drama written and directed by James Gray (We Own the Night, The Lost City of Z Ad Astra). Set in Queens in the 1980s against the backdrop of a country on the cusp of ominous sociopolitical change, it follows Paul (Banks Repeta), a sixth grader who dreams of becoming an artist. At the same time that he builds a friendship with classmate Johnny (Jaylin Webb), who’s mercilessly targeted by their racist teacher, he finds himself increasingly at odds with his parents (Jeremy Strong, Anne Hathaway), for whom financial success and assimilation are key to the family’s Jewish-American identity. Paul feels on firmest ground with his kind grandfather (Anthony Hopkins), whose life experiences have granted him a weathered compassion. Jessica Chastain also makes an appearance.
Was mostly well received in Cannes.
