Winter's Tale HD480p 20MB HD720p 89MB
Romantic drama that marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, Batman & Robin, The Da Vinci Code). Set in a mythic New York City and spanning more than a century, it's a story of miracles, crossed destinies, and the age-old battle between good and evil. Hard to believe, but that's the official description they made available. IMDb is a bit more informative: A burglar falls for an heiress as she dies in his arms. When he learns that he has the gift of reincarnation, he sets out to save her. Cast members include Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Jennifer Connelly, William Hurt, Eva Marie Saint and Russell Crowe.
Probably not that bad, but when they try to force a sentiment on me like they do in this trailer it can be rather off-putting. Unsurprisingly, movie will be in theatres Valentine's Day.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug HD480p 23MB HD720p 45MB HD1080p 206MB
Probably the final, "sneak-peek" trailer for the second movie of the trilogy of Peter Jackson's special effects-heavy adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien children's book, which features a lot of new footage. The adventure for Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) continues as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.
Again, a very good trailer. Makes me almost want to watch the movie. Also, another 8 minute production diary: HD720p 145MB.
RoboCop HD720p 32MB
Second trailer for the remake directed by Jose Padilha (Tropa de elite). The year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it's meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. Also part of the cast are Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jennifer Ehle, Jay Baruchel, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Samuel L. Jackson.
By now I've at least seen the original.
The Centenarian Who Climbed Out the Window and Vanished - Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann HD480p 15MB HD720p 24MB
Big screen adaptation from Sweden of the novel by Jonas Jonasson. It tells the unlikely story of a 100-year-old man who decides it's not too late to start over. For most people it would be the adventure of a lifetime, but Allan Karlsson's unexpected journey is not his first. For a century he's made the world uncertain, and now he is on the loose again.
I wasn't aware that they are making a movie (or maybe apparently even two) based on the book. But since it's a bit "Forrest Gump" it's probably not that surprising. Trailer is partially in Swedish and looks very pleasantly absurd.
The Great Beauty - La grande bellezza HD480p 20MB HD720p 33MB
UK trailer for the latest, not easy to describe, movie from Paolo Sorrentino (Il divo, This Must Be the Place) that's also Italy's submission for the Foreign Language Oscar. Journalist Jep Gambardella (Toni Servillo) has charmed and seduced his way through the lavish nightlife of Rome for decades. Since the legendary success of his one and only novel, he has been a permanent fixture in the city's literary and social circles, but when his sixty-fifth birthday coincides with a shock from the past, he finds himself unexpectedly taking stock of his life, turning his cutting wit on himself and his contemporaries, and looking past the extravagant nightclubs, parties, and cafés to find Rome in all its glory: a timeless landscape of absurd, exquisite beauty.
To see what the fascinating movie also has to offer on the visual (as well as acoustic) level I recommend watching the trailer.
