Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter HD720p 16MB
Darkly comedic, but also very touching odyssey of lonely Japanese woman Kumiko (Rinko Kikuchi) whose imagination transcends the confines of her mundane life. She becomes obsessed with a mysterious, battered VHS tape of a popular film she's mistaken for a documentary, fixating on a scene where a suitcase of stolen cash is buried in the desolate, frozen landscape of North Dakota. Believing this treasure to be real, she leaves behind Tokyo and her beloved rabbit Bunzo to recover it - and finds herself on a dangerous adventure unlike anything she's seen in the movies.
This looks very nice and pleasantly weird. And in case you're unsure, the movie that's referred to is from the Coen Brothers. An earlier, mesmerising teaser: HD720p 8MB.
Faults HD720p 77MB
Dark, comedic (and a bit violent) thriller about Claire (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) who is under the grip of a mysterious cult. Desperate to be reunited with their daughter, her parents set out to recruit one of the world's foremost authorities (Leland Orser) on mind control. His specialty, deprogramming cult members and returning them to their families, is not an exact science. Now, even his own book publisher is looking to break his legs. He kidnaps Claire, who reveals herself to be a formidable challenge; her belief is unshakeable and her logic is undeniable. A battle of wits develops between the two as they delve deeper and deeper into each others minds. Lance Reddick is also part of the cast.
That looks interesting.
Cut Bank HD720p 54MB
Darkly funny crime thriller about Dwayne (Liam Hemsworth) who grew up in Cut Bank and who yearns to move to the big city. He works as a mechanic for his girlfriend's (Teresa Palmer) father (Billy Bob Thornton) but it seems he'll never save enough cash to fulfill his dream and migrate to a warmer climate. Everything changes when he accidentally videotapes what appears to be the murder of an elderly postman (Bruce Dern) while shooting a DIY tourism advert. Anyone who provides evidence of the killing of a US postal employee will receive a $100,000 reward, which means that this tragedy could spell financial triumph for Dwayne. All he needs to do is show the postal inspector (Oliver Platt) the body - a task that proves more difficult than anticipated. John Malkovich and Michael Stuhlbarg are also part of the cast.
The supporting cast makes it interesting.
Lost River HD720p 28MB
Dark fairy tale about love, family and the fight for survival in the face of danger. Set against the surreal dreamscape of the vanishing city of Lost River, a single mother of two (Christina Hendricks), is led into a macabre underworld in her quest to save her childhood home and hold her family together. Her teenage son Bones (Iain De Casestecker) discovers a mystery about the origins of Lost River that triggers his curiosity and sets into motion an unexpected journey that will test his limits and the limits of those he loves. Saoirse Ronan, Ben Mendelsohn, Matt Smith, Eva Mendes and Reda Kateb are also part of the cast.
Ryan Gosling's writing and directing debut that got mostly panned after its debut in Cannes. What's obvious from the trailer is that his recent collaborations with Nicolas Winding Refn clearly have influenced him on the visual side, as well as the sound design side. David Lynch also comes to mind.
Poltergeist HD720p 48MB
Trailer for the remake that attempts to "contemporize the classic tale" about a family (Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt) whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she disappears forever. Jared Harris and Jane Adams are also part of the cast. Directed by Gil Kenan (City of Ember, Monster House).
I hope DeWitt's and Rockwell's paychecks will allow them to appear in a few more funny and interesting low budget movies.
