They even made Gordon-Levitt speak in a fake French accent. So I recommend more than ever the thriller-like, Oscar winning documentary Man on Wire that tells the same story in a more authentic way.

My apologies to fans of "The Magnetic Fields", but their song used in the trailer almost ruins it for me. But festival reviews indicate that the movie's not so bad and certainly makes better use of today's technology than all Hollywood films combined.
