The Revenant HD720p 46MB
Trailer for the latest movie directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu (Babel, Birdman, 21 Grams). Inspired by true events it tells the story of one man's epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, he endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, he must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption. Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter, Lukas Haas and Paul Anderson are also part of the cast. Cinematography by two-time Oscar winner Emmanuel Lubezki (Gravity, Birdman, The New World), aiming for a hat-trick.
Probably best seen wearing an Oculus Rift headset. That aside, Oscar season has officially begun. And it looks like we'll again meet many of the usual suspects.
Joy HD720p 36MB
First trailer for the latest movie directed by David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook, The Fighter, American Hustle). It tells the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl (Jennifer Lawrence) who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy's inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces. Also part of the cast are Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Édgar Ramírez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen and Elisabeth Röhm.
I guess there will be another trailer later that will give us a better feeling what kind of movie this will be.
Digging for Fire HD720p 22MB
Comedic drama in which the discovery of a bone and a gun sends a husband (Jake Johnson) and wife (Rosemarie DeWitt) on separate adventures over the course of a weekend. She decides to drop their toddler off with her mother for a much-needed night out on the town. Sans-wife, he invites his buddies over, and a "boys-will-be-boys" scenario ensues, full of drinking, awkward joint-passing, and perhaps getting a bit too close to a girl who isn't the mother of his child. Also part of the cast are Orlando Bloom, Brie Larson, Sam Rockwell, Anna Kendrick, Mike Birbiglia, Ron Livingston, Melanie Lynskey, Chris Messina, Jane Adams, Sam Elliott and Judith Light. Directed by Joe Swanberg (Drinking Buddies, Happy Christmas, Hannah Takes the Stairs), co-written by Swanberg and Johnson.
While I suspect that many will only have something like short cameos, the cast list is still kind of insane. I guess they all just met to hang out together at a barbecue and did a movie in the process. Looks like fun.
Sisters HD720p 30MB
R-rated comedy about two disconnected sisters (Tina Fey, Amy Poehler) summoned home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents (Dianne Wiest, James Brolin) sell the family house. Looking to recapture their glory days, they throw one final high-school-style party for their classmates, which turns into the cathartic rager that a bunch of ground-down adults really need. Ike Barinholtz, Maya Rudolph, Bobby Moynihan and John Cena are also part of the cast. Directed by Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect).
I guess Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, Dumb & Dumber and The Hangover got mentioned a lot during the sales pitch for this one.
A Hard Day - Kkeut-kka-ji-gan-da HD720p 15MB
Action thriller from South Korea about a homicide detective who is having a hard day: in less than 24 hours, he receives a divorce notice from his wife, his mother passes away, and along with his coworkers, he becomes the focus of a police investigation over alleged embezzlement. Making things worse, on his way to his mother's funeral, he commits a fatal hit and run and then, desperately hides a corpse in his deceased mother's coffin.
If you're into movies like that, this is a fun watch. Now in limited release in the US.
