Kill Your Friends HD720p 10MB
Summer blockbuster season ending and the fall season not yet really starting makes it difficult to put together an entry.
Redband teaser from the UK for this very dark, comedic drama that follows a young record company A&R (whihch I think stands for artists and repertoire) man in 1997 London as he plots to survive the shark tank that is the music industry, staying ahead of rivals and colleagues while maintaining both his job and his sanity. Steven (Nicholas Hoult) is not particularly skilled as a finder of new talent, nor does he harbour any scruples. But he does understand, perhaps better than the rest, that nothing replaces a ruthless Machiavellian will, which he hones while pretending to be a nice, friendly team player. James Corden, Rosanna Arquette, Craig Roberts, Moritz Bleibtreu and Ed Skrein are also part of the cast.
Performances by James McAvoy in Filth, and Christian Bale in American Psycho come to mind.
Ashby HD720p 89MB
Comedic coming-of-age drama about an awkward guy (Nat Wolff) who moves to a new town with his single mom (Sarah Silverman) and needs help fitting in. Brainier than his peers, Ed figures playing high school football might be good way to make more friends, but his only new friend Eloise (Emma Roberts) thinks it's odd. When Ed gets an assignment to write an essay about someone from an older generation, he introduces himself to his neighbor Ashby Holt (Mickey Rourke) and the two embark on an unlikely, immediate friendship.
If you can endure looking at Rourke's face, it's maybe not so bad.
Hell and Back HD720p 30MB
Redband trailer for this animated comedy about three guys (T.J. Miller, Nick Swardson, Rob Riggle) who are best friends since birth. When they jokingly take a blood oath and break it, one of them is dragged to Hell to be sacrificed. The guys must risk everything to save their friend from a slew of misfit demons, Greek legends and the Devil (Bob Odenkirk) himself. Further voices are provided by Mila Kunis, Susan Sarandon, Danny McBride, Jennifer Coolidge and Michael Peña.
Looks a bit more like TV than cinematic movie. And the people behind it so far have mainly done TV shows.
Big Stone Gap HD720p 25MB
Romantic, comedic drama set in 1978 that tells the story of the ever-ordinary Ave Maria Mulligan (Ashley Judd) who lives a simple life with her mother, runs the pharmacy, directs The Trail of the Lonesome Pine Outdoor Drama, and hopes that her best friend and the high school band director (John Benjamin Hickey), will take their platonic friendship in a romantic direction. She waits, and before she knows it, she turns 40. Now the old maid of Big Stone Gap decides that happiness is for other people - that is, until a long-buried family secret throws her quiet life spectacularly off-course. Patrick Wilson, Whoopi Goldberg, Jane Krakowski, Anthony LaPaglia and Jenna Efman are also part of the cast.
I prefer it when things are a little more fast-paced. I have a feeling someone will be able to say something about the accents.
The Witch HD720p 47MB
Supernatural horror movie set in New England circa 1630 that follows a farmer who gets cast out of his colonial plantation and is forced to move his family to a remote farm on the edge of an ominous forest rumored to be controlled by witches. Soon after, strange and unsettling things begin to happen - the animals turn malevolent, the crops fail, and one child disappears while another seemingly becomes possessed. As suspicion and paranoia mount, everyone begins to blame teenage daughter Thomasin.
Was highly praised for its atmospheric setting in Sundance where it won the Directing Award. But you obviously still have to be a fan of the genre to enjoy it.
