Star Trek Beyond HD720p 21MB HD1080p 58MB
First teaser trailer for the third movie of the current franchise reboot. No official summary is available yet. But I wager a guess that the crew of the Enterprise will hunt and bring down a villain. The whole crew returns. New cast additions are Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella. J.J. Abrams has jumped (space)ship to another franchise reboot, so directorial duty has been taken over by Justin Lin who has spent the last decade making the highly successful Fast & Furious sequels three to six. So it shouldn't come as a huge surprise that the teaser, with just a few changes, could just as well be for a sequel of that franchise. As a further sign that everything is starting to blur in Hollywood I suspect that the trailer will screen in front of the Star Wars reboot.
Independence Day - Resurgence HD720p 18MB HD1080p 78MB
First trailer for the first sequel to the blockbuster from 1996 which the studio intends to develop into a full franchise. It promises to deliver "global spectacle on an unimaginable scale". We always knew they were coming back. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
Will Smith's financial demands were apparently too steep, but many of the original cast members had enough spare time to return. Among them Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch and Vivica A. Fox. New to the cast are Liam Hemsworth and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Again directed by Roland Emmerich (White House Down, 2012, The Day After Tomorrow).
High-Rise HD720p 13MB
Teaser from the UK for this retro-futuristic action drama loosely based on a novel from J.G. Ballard. It follows a young, respectable doctor, Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston), who moves into a new luxury apartment seeking anonymity. The building, a Brutalist concrete tower block, is inhabited by eccentric tenants who let off steam in endless rounds of themed parties and raucous, drink-and-drug-fuelled orgies. Sitting literally atop this insular society is the high-rise's architect and owner (Jeremy Irons) whose penthouse suite beggars description and has nothing to do with the rest of his design. As Robert settles into his new abode without ever really unpacking properly, the tower and its social complexities begin to take over his life. Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, Elisabeth Moss, James Purefoy and Sienna Guillory are also part of the cast. Directed by Ben Wheatley (Sightseers, Down Terrace, Kill List).
Festival reviews were surprisingly mixed, but the teaser looks promising.
Night Owls HD720p 11MB
Indie romantic drama with comedic elements in which workaholic Kevin (Adam Pally) goes home with the beautiful train-wreck Madeline (Rosa Salazar) for a drunken one-night stand, but he's horrified to discover she's actually his boss' jilted ex-mistress. After she takes a bottle of sleeping pills, Kevin is forced to keep her awake all night. As the two banter through the night, they begin to fall for each other.
Kevin's naivety at times is a bit annoying. But it is still one of the best two handers of recent times. Good mix of story, romance and comedy. Now in limited release in the US and available on demand.
Eye in the Sky HD720p 25MB
UK trailer version for this political thriller about a UK-based military officer (Helen Mirren) in command of a top secret drone operation to capture terrorists in Kenya. Through remote surveillance and on-the-ground intel, she discovers the targets are planning a suicide bombing and the mission escalates from "capture" to "kill". But as American pilot Steve Watts (Aaron Paul) is about to engage, a nine-year old girl enters the kill zone, triggering an international dispute reaching the highest levels of US and British government over the moral, political, and personal implications of modern warfare. Alan Rickman, Barkhad Abdi, Jeremy Northam and Iain Glen are also part of the cast. Directed by Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Ender's Game, Rendition).
