The BFG HD720p 47MB HD1080p 126MB
Another full trailer for this upcoming family movie directed by Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park, Hook, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial) based on a book by Roald Dahl. The BFG (Mark Rylance), while a giant himself, is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. Standing 24-feet tall with enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps to himself for the most part. Giants like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) on the other hand, are twice as big and at least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the BFG prefers Snozzcumber and Frobscottle. Upon her arrival in Giant Country, Sophie (Ruby Barnhill), a precocious 10-year-old girl from London, is initially frightened of the mysterious giant but soon comes to realize that the BFG is actually quite gentle and charming. Rebecca Hall and Penelope Wilton are also part of the cast.
Movie premiered out-of-competition in Cannes. Where it was hailed as a great, well, Spielberg movie. Rylance apparently gives a remarkable motion-capture performance.
Indignation HD720p 22MB
Drama set in 1951, in which a young man (Logan Lerman) escapes the perils of the Korean War draft and the obsessive fears of his overbearing kosher-butcher father in New Jersey with his admission to college in Ohio. Upon arriving at the strictly Christian school, the ardent atheist rejects the assumption that he should integrate into the small Jewish population there, eventually butting heads with the exacting Dean (Tracy Letts) over his reluctance to attend chapel and his budding relationship with a beautiful but troubled classmate (Sarah Gadon). As his outrage mounts, he finds himself yearning to shake off his long-held persona of hardworking boy and dutiful son. Ben Rosenfield is also part of the cast.
Based on a novel from Philip Roth this is the directorial debut of James Schamus, the co-founder and longtime president of Focus Features and who worked on pretty much all screenplays for Ang Lee.
Little Men HD720p 20MB
Family drama about the consequences of gentrification. When 13-year-old Jake's grandfather dies, his family moves from Manhattan back into his father's old Brooklyn home. Jake befriends the charismatic Tony, whose single mother Leonor (Paulina García), a dressmaker from Chile, runs the shop downstairs. Soon, Jake's parents (Jennifer Ehle, Greg Kinnear) ask Leonor to sign a new, steeper lease on her store. For Leonor, the proposed new rent is untenable, and a feud ignites between the adults. Children can't avoid the problems of their parents forever, and soon enough, the adult conflict intrudes upon the borders of their friendship. Alfred Molina is also part of the cast. Directed Ira Sachs whose most recent film was the similarly themed Love Is Strange.
Was extremely well-received in Sundance.
Liza, the Fox-Fairy - Liza, a rókatündér HD720p 32MB
Quirky, cartoon-colourfully black comedy from Hungary set in 1960s Budapest, in which a lonely live in-nurse, Liza, spends her days cooped up, caring for the Japanese ambassador's wife. Her primary companion is the specter of a Japanese pop singer who cheerily haunts the house, singing his tunes and dancing around in a teal suit. But as Liza, desperate for romance, begins the search for the love of her life, the ghost goes into jealous fits of rage and murders her suitors one by one. With the police on her case, she comes to the conclusion that she is a fox-fairy - a cursed creature from Japanese folklore who unwillingly causes lovers to drop dead. To break the curse, she must discover the selflessness of true love.
Has been doing the rounds at festivals around the world for more than a year, but so far is struggling to secure regular distribution. Which seems like a grave injustice.
