It's the story of a single dog and the many different people she touches over her short lifetime. Man’s best friend starts out teaching a young boy some contorted life lessons before being taken in by a compassionate vet tech (Greta Gerwig). She reunites with someone from her past and sets off on a road trip. After leaving her, Wiener-Dog encounters a floundering film professor (Danny DeVito), as well as an embittered elderly woman (Ellen Burstyn) and her needy granddaughter (Zosia Mamet) - all longing for something more. Julie Delpy and Tracy Letts are also part of the cast.
Still not exactly "fun", but looks like one of Solondz' more approachable films.

Extended, almost five minute long trailer for the first sequel to the blockbuster from 1996 which the studio intends to develop into a full franchise. It promises to deliver "global spectacle on an unimaginable scale". We always knew they were coming back. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction. Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch and Vivica A. Fox return. New to the cast are Liam Hemsworth and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Again directed by Roland Emmerich (White House Down, 2012, The Day After Tomorrow).
The patriotic and militaristic tone of the movie is so deafening that the US Army took notice and decided to use the film as a recruitment tool with a promotional tie-in.
