But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy whether he likes it or not. In this modern love story set against the Austin, Texas music scene, two entangled couples - struggling songwriters Faye (Rooney Mara) and BV (Ryan Gosling), and music mogul Cook (Michael Fassbender) and the waitress whom he ensnares (Natalie Portman) - chase success through a rock ‘n’ roll landscape of seduction and betrayal.
Looks a lot like Malick's previous movie Knight of Cups which was hard to watch. Hopefully, this time there will be something resembling a story and not just attractive people wandering around for two hours.

Usually, movies like this first screen at a couple of festivals before they have a (limited) theatrical run. This isn't the case here, so so far there's only the trailer to judge the movie.
