Festival reviews point out that despite the implausible story, the movie apparently pays off.

Rama must hunt for information linking Bangun with corruption in the Jakarta Police Department while pursuing a dangerous and personal vendetta that threatens to consume him and bring his mission—and the organized crime syndicate—down around him. Again written and directed by Gareth Evans.
According to the Sundance website where the movie will premiere next week, the film is almost 2 1/2 hours long. And the trailer also makes it look pretty epic.
